We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Field Technician to join our growing team supporting a dynamic software engineering and systems development environment at a government facility. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to launch their career in a hands-on, technically rich environment. The selected candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians, gaining valuable exposure to software engineering, systems development, hardware integration, testing, and troubleshooting across a variety of mission-focused projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support hardware configuration and setup of systems and components within a lab environment
- Perform system and component testing to verify functionality and performance
- Install, route, and build cables to support system integration and lab infrastructure needs
- Move and relocate hardware and equipment as directed to support lab operations and project requirements
- Assist with general lab organization and maintenance, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient workspace
- Support the team with day-to-day operational tasks and project deliverables as needed
- Participate in system integration and testing activities, learning processes and procedures under the guidance of senior engineers
- Assist in documentation efforts including equipment inventories, cable logs, and configuration records
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment, supporting software engineers, systems engineers, and test teams as required
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- AA Degree in related discipline and one year related experience; Or, High School and two (2) years of related experience with relevant certification.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Mus thave an Interim Secret Clearance to start
- Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance after start
- 0–2 years of experience in a technical, IT, or hands-on hardware support role
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, networking, and electronic systems
- Ability to physically handle and move equipment, including lifting up to 50 lbs
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions and procedures
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Exposure to or coursework in computer science, information technology, electronics, or engineering
- Familiarity with cable fabrication and management techniques
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and hardware connectivity
- Experience working in a lab or technical environment
- Familiarity with test and measurement equipment
- Any relevant technical certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar) a plus
