SAIC is seeking to hire a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Specialist to support our federal client, located in Silver Spring, MD. Candidates must have FOIA experience and be highly motivated with expert research and analysis skills, a keen attention to details, and the ability to mange multiple tasks at once.
Job Description:
Processing FOIA requests using the department's FOIA request management tracking system including assembling legal documents and evidence, reviewing cases, redacting information and applying exemptions as necessary, preparing the appropriate responses, and electronically submitting to Government staff for approvals
Compiling scanning, and preparing reports, documents, briefing materials, and various correspondences for executives and management leadership
Assisting with drafting of FOIA guidance, policies, procedures, and reports
Preparing and presenting training to executive leadership of FOIA policies, procedures, and agency-specific practices
Assisting in other duties related to the processing of initial FOIA requests, FOIA Appeals and Litigation such as ad hoc research, data pulls, data entry correction projects, and updating FOIA contact lists
Understanding the organizational policies and procedures for accuracy of solutions and deliverables to the client
Demonstrating a commitment to quality and customer support
Qualifications
Education & Training:
Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
Minimum Experience & Skills:
Ten or more years of professional/office experience
One or more years of FOIA experience
Proficient with Microsoft Office's suite of products
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a public trust
Desired Experience/Certification & Skills:
One year of PRA experience
Experience using FOIAxpress and/or FOIAOnline
Experience developing and executing FOIA-related training
Ability to create and maintain tracking systems for the completion of work assignments
Ability to identify and distinguish different kinds of legal documents and their purpose
Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
