 SAIC is seeking an Integration Technician for our customer site in North Charleston, SC to support MADIS (Marine Air Defense Integrated System).

Primary function includes activities such as basic machining, modification, fabrication, assembly and test for metal, electrical and COTS components.

Job Description:

  • Will be primarily tasked with performing moderate to complex vehicle integration tasks to include cable routing, metal work installations, and technical support to integrate, install, modify, and perform upgrades in support of C5ISR systems
  • May assemble cabinets, chassis, consoles, or similar devices and install them with electronic or electro-mechanical equipment
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions
  • Construct components, subunits, or simple models, adapt standard equipment, and troubleshoot system failures through various skill methods to correct malfunctions
  • Conduct routine repair, retrofit, systems integration, calibration and testing; in-line repair and testing; operation of test equipment
  • Read and follow integration documentation, written or verbal instructions, schematics, rough sketches, drawings and diagrams, layouts, and plans often requiring interpretation
  • Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exact tolerances and dimensions
  • Interprets drawings, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations for fabrication; uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required
  • Be able to safely complete all of the physical demands of the job in a manufacturing environment, including but not limited to the following:
  • Lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying up to 50 pounds, unassisted, on a regular basis
  • Walking, bending, stooping, sitting, standing or squatting for extended periods
  • Repeatedly manipulating and handling tools needed for installing electrical components, Mechanical parts and metal work into vehicles. Familiar with the use and operation of power tools is necessary
  • Move and arrange cable supplies and electronic equipment
     

Qualifications

Education: Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED.

Experience: Six (6) with degree/formal training or ten (10) years with HS/GED of practical experience to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings. Individual shall have notable experience performing one or a combination of the following duties: designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results; from general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements), develops designs for equipment without critical performance requirements that are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry. Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc. May check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design; and plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance. Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results, and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.
Individual shall be capable of performing non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. Individual may train and be assisted by lower level technicians. Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements.

Specific Experience: Five (5) years of practical experience in C4ISR systems, C4ISR land-based vehicular platforms or related C4ISR systems/subsystems. Experience, to include: installation of such equipment. Three (3) year of experience, to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings. Four (4) years of experience in task C4ISR systems, C4ISR land-based vehicular platforms or related C4ISR systems/subsystems, of which 3 must have been performed within the last 4 years. Experience may be achieved simultaneously.

Clearance: Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance and CAC.
