Description

SAIC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented SCA Material Coordinator to join our team supporting production, distribution, and coordination efforts related to underwater sensors and polymer-based systems. The Material Coordinator will be responsible for managing, tracking, and ensuring the availability of materials required to support mission-critical operations. This role requires a strong understanding of materials management processes, supply chain operations, and the unique complexities associated with underwater sensor systems and polymers.

The ideal candidate will work closely with engineering, procurement, logistics, and production teams to ensure seamless material flow, inventory accuracy, and adherence to project schedules, while ensuring compliance with Service Contract Act (SCA) guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily material tracking and reconciliation to maintain accurate inventory levels.
Coordinate the procurement, receipt, inspection, storage, and distribution of materials for underwater sensors and polymer systems.
Collaborate with internal and external vendors to ensure timely delivery.
Monitor usage rates to forecast and address material shortages or surpluses.
Create and maintain detailed records of materials, their locations, and status updates using enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other inventory systems.
Work closely with the supply chain team to procure raw materials, components, and parts for underwater sensor systems and polymers.
Address supply chain disruptions by identifying alternative sources and mitigating risks.
Manage material-critical issues by escalating concerns that compromise production timelines.
Ensure all materials meet specific project standards, technical requirements, and regulatory compliance for underwater and polymer systems.
Maintain compliance with Service Contract Act (SCA) policies and procedures.
Develop and maintain reports including usage data, inventory turnover, and materials discrepancies.
Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, program managers, and quality control, to ensure proper material selection and usage.
Provide status updates to management, identifying potential risks to material availability that may impact schedules or deliverables.
Train team members on materials management best practices.
Analyze inventory levels to optimize supply while minimizing overstock and inefficiencies.
Utilize metrics to improve the accuracy and efficiency of material replenishment processes.
Perform routine inventory audits and cycle counts to minimize errors.
Follow and enforce workplace safety and OSHA policies when handling materials to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

2+ years of experience in material coordination, supply chain, production, or a related field.
Familiarity with supply chain processes, inventory systems, and general warehouse operations.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Knowledge of materials used in underwater systems, sensors, and polymers.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a warehouse/shop environment and occasionally outdoors.
May involve standing, walking, bending, and operating material handling equipment for extended periods.
Occasional travel may be required to support operations or vendor engagements.
Ability to read schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, flow charts and use logical troubleshooting techniques.

Preferred:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Previous experience in a government contracting environment, especially working under Service Contract Act (SCA) guidelines.
Knowledge of DoD policies, standards, and procedures, particularly related to material and supply chain management.
Familiarity with polymers and underwater technology requirements, including the handling, storage, and application of such materials.
APICS or CPM certification is a plus.
