SAIC is seeking experienced Principal Systems Integration Engineer to support the Space Development Agency (SDA) Tranche 3 Program Integration (T3PI) program in Chantilly, VA.
As the Principal Systems Integration Engineer , you will be supporting the Systems Engineering and Integration of the Tranche 3 constellation, which includes hundreds of satellites accomplishing multiple mission areas including missile warning, tracking and defense and tactical communications to warfighters. You will work with the SDA, end users, space vehicle contractors, and ground segment contractors to ensure the architecture, requirements, implementation, integration and testing are executed successfully.
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
- Works as a key part of the overall Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) group that is the core of the T3PI team.
- Translates system requirements into system architectures that integrate space, ground and end user systems to meet overall mission needs while considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Develops interface control documents and system models that define interfaces between space, ground and end user segments.
- Ensures segment-level specifications are consistent with system-level requirements.
- Develops system threads that evaluate and document step-by-step functional behaviors between space, ground and end user elements.
- Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, and trade studies.
- Works with space vehicle and ground segment contractors to ensure designs meet requirements and interfaces across segments and systems will function properly.
- Assists with planning and execution of system-level tests and the evaluation of segment-level test plans and execution.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant experience OR Masters and 7 years of relevant experience in Engineering or Engineering Sciences. Additional professional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Developing and/or sustaining high-reliability systems for national security, preferably including space and/or ground systems or space-to-ground integration.
- Experience with systems engineering involving the integration of complex multi-element systems.
- Excellent communication and teaming skills.
Desired Education and Experience:
- Experienced with fast-paced development programs in the space domain.
- A high degree of proficiency using one or more MBSE tools to include Cameo Systems Modeler and/ or DOORs.
- Experience with space-based tactical communications; missile warning, tracking and defense; or custody of targets from space.
- Experience with a broad range of system types: custom developed HW/SW, COTS/GOTS HW/SW, and specialty engineering.
- Experience in Agile methods for program management or software development.
- Experience developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
