Position Summary:
SAIC is seeking an experienced Security Architect to join our team in support of a major state and local government customer. As a critical member of the program team, the Security Architect will be responsible for contributing to IT infrastructure strategy, developing innovative solution designs, ensuring service continuity, delivering high-quality outputs, and addressing emerging cybersecurity challenges. In addition, the Security Architect will assist with project management activities and take ownership of key technical deliverables. This position is based in Austin, Texas, and may include periodic travel to customer locations within the region.
As the Security Architect, your primary responsibilities will include:
Assisting with project management efforts and facilitating the successful delivery of technical solutions by ensuring clear communication, tracking milestones, and aligning deliverables with project objectives.
Developing and maintaining Technical Roadmaps, Annual Refresh Plans, and designing flexible solutions for Enterprise Infrastructure Services.
Contributing to and owning key project deliverables, including design specifications, implementation plans, risk assessments, and architectural documentation.
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery of solutions that align with customer requirements and industry standards.
Providing expertise in the creation of reusable Service Archetypes and standards to enable scalable and efficient solution implementation.
Analyzing and addressing emerging cybersecurity challenges, including threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response strategies, and protection against advanced persistent threats (APT).
Incorporating risk management frameworks that proactively identify, assess, and mitigate potential security risks to ensure robust IT operations.
Enforcing compliance with industry-standard security frameworks, regulations like NIST 800-53, ISO 27001/27002, and best practices to safeguard customer environments.
Researching, evaluating, and recommending innovative technologies and practices for safeguarding IT infrastructures and enhancing cyber resilience.
Serving as a technical resource for cross-functional project teams in developing solutions, budgets, and planning aligned to long-term organizational objectives.
Balancing cost and performance requirements to devise high-value, efficient solutions that align with service delivery objectives.
Stakeholder Collaboration
As an integral resource, the Security Architect will actively support program initiatives while providing continuous engagement with customers, technical stakeholder groups, and project management teams. The role will include participation in project meetings, direct customer interactions, and representation in IT governance discussions, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and operational goals.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a Bachelor's degree in IT or related field with 13+ years of related experience. Master's degree considered a plus. May consider additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft SharePoint.
Familiarity with ServiceNOW or similar service delivery platforms.
Certifications (Preferred): CISSP
Must have familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF, DODAF, Zachman, FEA, or Gartner is desirable.
Competence with Windows, Active Directory, IAM solutions, and database platforms such as Oracle, SQL, and PostgreSQL.
Expertise in developing technical deliverables, including architecture frameworks (physical, logical, and data models), and defining Service Design Packages (SDPs) for client use.
Familiarity with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and cybersecurity concepts, particularly in vulnerability and incident response management.
Broad IT Infrastructure Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and implementing complex IT infrastructure solutions. Strong history of translating business requirements into scalable and resilient IT strategies.
Risk and Vulnerability Management Experience: Extensive experience designing and implementing comprehensive vulnerability management programs and actionable risk management frameworks to proactively mitigate potential threats.
Cybersecurity and Threat Awareness: In-depth understanding of emerging cybersecurity challenges and trends, with proven experience in crafting security solutions for protecting systems against evolving threats such as ransomware, phishing, insider threats, and other adversarial activities.
Project Collaboration: Strong experience in supporting and collaborating on project management tasks, such as defining workflows, ensuring timely delivery, and coordinating activities to meet deadlines and client objectives.
Ability to Manage Deliverables: A proven track record of owning and delivering key outputs, including technical specifications, risk assessments, and architecture-related deliverables.
Strong Collaborative Capabilities: Demonstrated expertise in working with diverse stakeholder groups to ensure clear communication, alignment, and collaboration on projects.
