The Senior Cyber Capabilities Engineer plays a central role in advancing SAIC's mission of excellence in innovative software development. The Senior Cyber Capabilities Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and demonstrating cutting-edge cyber solutions that meet complex operational and technical needs. Leveraging deep technical and software engineering expertise, this individual plays a pivotal role in delivering mission-critical capabilities. The role supports the entire lifecycle—from requirements refinement and development through testing, integration, and delivery—while ensuring high-quality results that align with SAIC's strategic objectives and maintain cybersecurity compliance standards. This role also emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and performance-driven outcomes in multidisciplinary environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deliver advanced software capabilities to meet operational and technical requirements.
- Provide senior-level engineering expertise to drive innovation and overcome complex technical challenges.
- Lead system and component-level testing to produce scalable, interoperable, and reliable solutions.
- Collaborate with teams to integrate cyber capabilities into broader systems, ensuring alignment across deliverables and operational goals.
- Support all phases of the cybersecurity solutions lifecycle, including refining requirements, creating documentation, and addressing stakeholder feedback.
- Troubleshoot and implement updates to maintain system integrity, reliability, and compliance with evolving cybersecurity standards.
- Conduct technical demonstrations, generate supporting deliverables such as test plans and user guides, and ensure successful stakeholder engagement.
- Identify risks early in the development process and develop mitigation strategies to ensure success.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience. Additional experience and/or certifications may be excepted in lieu of a degree.
Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
Applicable DoD 8140 (formerly DoD 8570) certification (e.g., CISSP, CASP+, or other relevant cybersecurity/software certifications).
Demonstrated expertise in developing, testing, and deploying advanced software solutions in dynamic and operationally focused environments.
In-depth knowledge of secure software development lifecycle processes in line with DoD and modern cybersecurity best practices.
Extensive experience with programming languages, software frameworks, system integration, and tools used in cyber engineering.
Proven ability to collaborate in highly technical, team-oriented development settings while meeting timelines and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience integrating software solutions with advanced cyber systems or mission-critical operations.
Advanced knowledge of secure coding principles, vulnerability assessments, and defensive cyber development techniques.
Familiarity with emerging frameworks and technologies relevant to advanced cybersecurity solutions.
Excellent technical documentation and communication skills for managing stakeholder engagement and team collaboration.
Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
