SAIC is seeking a highly experienced Enterprise Architect to drive innovation and modernization efforts for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) capabilities within the Department of Defense (DoD). In this role, you will provide strategic guidance, technology expertise, and enterprise-level solutions to support transformational initiatives and achieve mission success.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Architecture and AI/ML Modernization:
- Translate DoD enterprise strategies into actionable future-state architectures and transition roadmaps for AI/ML modernization.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to DoD stakeholders, guiding the lifecycle of AI/ML solutions—from concept development to operational deployment.
- Apply multi-disciplinary techniques, including:
- Business process decomposition and redesign.
- Information engineering and organizational redesign.
- IT strategy, architecture development, change management, and performance measurement.
- Lead enterprise business transformation efforts aligned with DoD AI/ML objectives.
Business Development and Customer Engagement:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with DoD customers by understanding mission requirements, capability gaps, and operational needs.
- Develop and deliver technical briefings, demonstrations, and proofs of concept to highlight tailored AI/ML solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with program managers, contracting officers, and senior leaders to influence requirements and grow business opportunities.
- Support proposal development by contributing:
- Technical approaches.
- Staffing strategies.
- Past performance success narratives.
AI/ML Concept Development and Implementation:
- Lead the end-to-end process of AI/ML capability development, from initial concept through operational deployment.
- Conduct ideation sessions with customers and internal teams to identify mission-relevant AI/ML use cases.
- Architect solutions that align with:
- DoD security frameworks.
- Cloud architectures at classification levels (IL-2 through IL-6).
- DevSecOps pipelines and cybersecurity policies.
- Oversee development activities, including sprints, testing, and user acceptance.
- Ensure compliance with DoD security standards, including ATO processes and Zero Trust architecture principles.
Technology Research and Evaluation:
- Continuously research emerging AI/ML tools, frameworks, platforms, and methodologies.
- Assess and recommend best-of-breed technologies based on:
- Performance, scalability, security, interoperability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure seamless integration of selected technologies within DoD environments, including cloud deployments and containerized solutions.
Enterprise Architecture Design and Governance:
- Design, develop, and maintain both current-state and future-state architectural models and supporting artifacts.
- Analyze and provide recommendations on architectural changes, including the integration of AI/ML services and data pipelines.
- Conduct architecture reviews to ensure compliance with EA policies and DoD standards.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, data scientists, and ML engineers to incorporate reengineered business processes and workflows into architectural designs.
Strategic Planning and Roadmap Development:
- Engage with enterprise governance processes to implement transition plans, drive strategic initiatives, and align enterprise goals with AI/ML modernization efforts.
- Define and guide enterprise architecture processes, policies, and responsibilities.
- Develop strategic roadmaps prioritizing and sequencing initiatives to achieve target-state architectures.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in enterprise architecture development and implementation in DoD or equivalent environments.
- Deep expertise in AI/ML frameworks, methodologies, and DevSecOps principles.
- Strong background in business transformation, IT strategy, and cybersecurity (including Zero Trust and ATO processes).
- Demonstrated success in business development and customer relationship management.
- Knowledge of DoD cloud architectures (IL-2 through IL-6) and secure data systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with technical staff, stakeholders, and leadership.
- Experience in strategic planning, roadmap development, and managing large-scale transformation initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with DoD policies, EA compliance requirements, and classified environments.
- Hands-on experience with advanced AI/ML tools and technologies.
- Certifications in enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, DoDAF, etc.).
- Strong storytelling ability to build compelling business cases and presentations for diverse audiences.
