SAIC is seeking a highly qualified Senior Systems Engineer to provide onsite support to the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) weapon system at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

Program Overview

The THAAD contractor team within S3I organization at Redstone Arsenal provides comprehensive support to meet the Army's requirement for institutional training across all aspects of THAAD operations and maintenance. The mission is executed through the Institutional Conduct of Fires Trainer (ICOFT), an integrated training environment designed to replicate operational conditions and enhance soldier proficiency.

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

·        Coordinate and integrate technical activities across multiple projects underneath THAAD Trainers portfolio to ensure that identified operational and training needs are translated into effective, fully optimized life-cycle solutions

·        Ensure interface compatibility across all internal and external system elements, maintaining alignment between functional and physical system architecture

·        Validate system definition and design to confirm that hardware, software, data, facility, and support components meet all specified requirements

·        Ensure that all engineering activities adhere to a tailored Systems Engineering process designed to minimize effort, streamline execution, and support efficient schedule performance

·        Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, logistics, manufacturing, contractor, and program leadership to resolve complex technical challenges with many competing objectives, variables, and constraints

·        Document technical solutions with clear traceability to technical, cost, and schedule constraints

·        Interface with the government customer and end users to clearly communicate technical, cost, and schedule impacts associated with engineering decisions, risks, and proposed solutions

·        Support program execution activities across multiple domains, which may include Risk Management, Configuration Management, Data Management, Trade-off Analysis/Trade Studies, Technical Performance Measures, Technical Reviews, and Modeling & Simulation

·        Establish and sustain THAAD Trainer requirements to support mission objectives, ensuring thorough verification and validation of system‑level capabilities

·        Demonstrate advanced proficiency with IBM DOORS, including the development, documentation, and management of detailed system specification requirements

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

·        BS degree and nine (9) years of experience; four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree

REQUIRED SKILLS:

·        Solid experience in the system engineering discipline

  • Strong understanding and proven application using the “Systems Engineering V model”, including requirements identification, documentation, analysis, and traceability

  • Develop, document, and refine system requirements that align with operational needs

  • Strong experience in developing and managing technical artifacts such as Requirements Specification Tree, ICDs, and CONOPS

  • Familiarity with standard requirements management tools, such as DOORS or equivalent platforms

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams to address technical and operational challenges

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure requirements, technical artifacts, and system concepts are clearly articulated to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

·        Active Secret Security Clearance (US citizenship required)
