SAIC is currently looking for a Test and Evaluation (T&E) engineer to provide technical advisory support to the US Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Center (SSC) Space Sensing Directorate (SSC/SN).  SSC/SN acquires Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Weather space systems to support military and intelligence community users. This position provides T&E guidance and technical support to SSC/SNET for new and ongoing ground system acquisition and development efforts.  The successful candidate will apply industry best practices to ensure consistent standards are applied to multiple ground systems through the application of developmental and operational test techniques, requirements validation, and reporting as SSC/SNGT advances toward Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) and Enterprise Ground Services (EGS).  The candidate will also interface with development contractors and military customers and provide recommendations to the Government for all T&E activities.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will work alongside with the development contractor to develop test procedures, test scripts, and configuration definitions needed to perform assigned tests
  • Participate in the evaluation of test performance data
  • Work with senior engineers to troubleshoot and explain off-nominal data
  • Prepare test summary reports for review and data archive
  • Document solutions and technical issues
  • Suggest improvements and fixes to various systems
  • Analyze test results, detect issues, and track root causes
  • Review and provide expert feedback on test documentation to ensure the developmental contractors correctly and adequately allocate contract requirements, design appropriate test plans and schedules with sufficient resources, and then execute per the plan
  • Monitor tests to ensure adherence to discipline in all T&E phases and review test materials and results to assess compliance with contract requirements
  • Communicate with developmental contractors to ascertain details of testing discrepancies and provide the Government customer with technical insight to possible downstream impacts

 

Other duties include:

·      Coordinate with the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center - Detachment 4, Chief Developmental Testers for NextGen OPIR, FORGE Program Office, and the Capability Area Integrator for Missile Warning to facilitate the quarterly Space Based Missile Warning (SBMW) Integrated Test Team (ITT) that develops and manages the T&E program outlined in Test and Evaluation Master Plans for OPIR development and production systems

·      Track space and ground system program plans, current development, T&E, block upgrades, operations and sustainment, and program requirements

·      Monitor and analyze Contractor and Government test and readiness activities

·      Review Contractor and Government T&E planning documentation (e.g., requirements, plans, schedule) and presentations (e.g., test reviews, readiness reviews) to confirm all work required to successfully complete test and evaluation is captured and reported in the requirements, plans, program schedule, etc.

·      Review program T&E results and associated analysis for rigor, proper application of analytical techniques, legitimacy of conclusions, and thoroughness of reporting

·      Monitor and report on technical discrepancies relating to mission area test and certification activities in support of Operational Acceptance.

·      Create and deliver detailed briefings.

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • US Citizen with eligibility to hold a DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Experience with US Space Force/Air Force Missile Warning, Missile Tracking, Missile Characterization, and/or Missile Defense
  • DoD Acquisition and/or System Test and Evaluation with demonstrated experience accelerating software project development, integration, and deployment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and able to multi-task while handling competing priorities and deadlines

Qualifications (Desired):

  • Recent experience in related field as a Government and/or cleared Defense Contractor in Test and Evaluation
  • Experience working in a Systems Engineering and Technical Advisor (SETA) role

Education and Training (Required):

  • Must have BS degree with min. nine years of experience or
  • Master's degree in a related field such as Engineering or Mathematics and seven (7) to nine (9) years of relevant experience.

 

Education and Training (Alternative):

  • Bachelor's degree or six (6) years work experience in related field may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.  Associate's degree plus four (4) years work experience in related field may be substituted for Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree or twelve (12) years work experience in related field may be substituted for a Master's degree.  Bachelor's degree plus eight (8) years work experience may be substituted for a Master's degree.

 

Certifications (Desired):

  • International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certificate

 

Desired Technical Specialties:

Model Based Systems Engineering

 


Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
