SAIC is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to join our IT team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Windows and Linux based systems and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft Windows and RHEL Server environments, Active Directory, and related technologies, with a focus on delivering scalable solutions that meet organizational needs.
This is a Hybrid/Remote role in San Diego, CA. Must be local to area.
JOB DUTIES:
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and resolve hardware/software problems to ensure minimal downtime and optimal functionality.
- System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Windows Server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022) and associated roles/features such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and File Services.
- Infrastructure Design: Architect and deploy Windows and Linux based solutions in on-premises, adhering to best practices for redundancy, high availability, and security.
- Backup & Recovery: Design and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and implement PowerShell and Bash scripts.
- Security Management: Implement and maintain security policies, including patch management, user access controls, and compliance with DISA & organizational standards.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to support application deployments, system upgrades, and infrastructure projects.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and two (2) years or more of relative experience. Years of experience in lieu of degree will be reviewed.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance after start.
- Must have programming experience using Powershell or other Object Oriented Programming languages.
- Familiarity using Docker or containerization software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows Desktop and/or Windows Server operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with VMWare bare metal virtualization technologies.
- Foundational understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls).
- Fundamental comprehension of backup infrastructure and software.
- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and learn new tools quickly.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience using Atlassian products (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo).
- Understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Experience with PKI and certificate management.

Familiarity of Ansible or other IaaC technologies.
- Certification in Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or equivalent certifications (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA Server+) is preferred.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
