SAIC is seeking a Systems Administrator to work aboard a US Navy vessel for a minimum of one year. This particular position is 100% onboard an expeditionary Navy vessel, both in-port and at sea.
The qualified candidate will live onboard the ship and provide full-time FSR embedded support for the onboard IT and communications systems. The Systems Administrator will work directly with Navy crew members to maintain, patch, back up, and troubleshoot computers, phones, peripherals, servers, and networks.
Team members located at these sites shall support not only those specific geographical locations, but also all deployment sites within the RCC's Area of Responsibility (AOR) and other RCC as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
• Installation of new hardware or software
• Creating and managing user accounts
• Maintaining computer systems such as endpoint devices, servers, and networks
• Planning and properly responding to system outages and various other problems
• Coordinating and collaborating with Mission Support Center in Florida
• Recording trouble tickets and reporting work performed, issues resolved, and system needs
• May include light programming or scripting to make the system workflows easier
• Training computer users and assistants
Requirement for Operation and Maintenance support is typically 5 days a week for each C4I FoS fielded system. Work hours in excess of 40 hours per week per person may be required during contingency operations (deployments or exercises), an alternate work schedule may be required to support 24/7 operations. Typical core hours are 0800 to 1700.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors and 2 years experience. (additional years of experience accepted in lieu of degree)
Requirements:
• Experience working in a Linux environment
• Demonstrated experience in a Systems Administrator role
• Light networking experience
• Security+ or equivalent valid DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification
• Must possess valid US Passport
• Ability to maintain Cybersecurity Workforce requirements
Required Clearance:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. A minimum of a Secret clearance will be required prior to first day of employment.
Required Travel:
Travel required 100% of the time. Ship is typically in port within AOR one to two times per month. Team members may disembark from the vessel during port calls in most cases.
Relocation/Living Quarters/Expenses:
Relocation is available to home port location of Guam, but not required. Travel to and from ship provided at no cost to employee. All meals aboard the ship are reimbursable. Living quarters for Systems Administrator is provided at no cost to employee.
