Description
Description
SAIC is seeking a talented and mission-driven Senior Systems Engineer (ET1233) to support the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) Digital Infrastructure (DI) Network Designer & Deployer program in support of the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Program Executive Officer for Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management (PEO C3BM).
The ABMS DI Network is the backbone of the DAF BATTLE NETWORK — the Air Force's contribution to the DoD's Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) warfighting concept. This program is delivering a secure, resilient, multi-enclave digital infrastructure spanning Unclassified through TS/SCI security domains, integrating cutting-edge commercial and government technologies including cloud computing, SD-WAN, Enterprise Cross Domain Solutions, Data Distribution Networks, Scalable Transport, and Data Link Integration Modules across global operational sites.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will serve as a key technical contributor within the ABMS DI Network System of Systems engineering team — translating government requirements into actionable designs, supporting work package development, and ensuring the seamless integration of DI Network foundational features across all security enclaves and operational environments. Your engineering expertise will directly shape the network infrastructure that enables warfighters to make faster, better-informed decisions across every domain of modern conflict.
Positions are available in Reston, VA and San Diego, CA.
Job Responsibilities
-
Serve as a senior technical contributor on the ABMS DI Network System of Systems engineering team, supporting the planning, design, development, and integration of DI Network features and sub-features across all Major and Minor Releases
-
Translate government-provided work packages into detailed systems engineering designs, Bills of Materials (BOMs), deployment procedures, and supporting technical documentation for DI Network foundational features including DI Network Cloud, SD-WAN, Enterprise Cross Domain Solutions (E-CDS), Data Distribution Network (DDN), Scalable Transport, and Data Link Integration Module (DLIM)
-
Perform systems engineering analysis and design activities across all DI Network security enclaves including Unclassified, Secret, Secret//REL, and TS/SCI, ensuring designs meet government-defined operational requirements, technical objectives, and security standards
-
Support the development and maintenance of the DI Network system architecture, including interface control documents, system design documents, and technical baseline artifacts required for Government-led Configuration Control Boards (CCBs)
-
Conduct trade studies, technical assessments, and engineering analyses to evaluate design alternatives, identify optimal technology solutions, and inform program decision-making across DI Network work packages
-
Collaborate with the DI Network Manager, Design Work Package teams, test engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders to ensure integrated, end-to-end system designs are deployment-ready and operationally viable
-
Support the development and review of SD-WAN orchestration policies, network routing architectures, firewall configurations, DNS designs, and encryption architectures as part of the broader DI Network design effort
-
Apply Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and Configuration-as-Code (CaC) principles to support automated provisioning, configuration management, and remote update capabilities across all ABMS DI Processing Nodes and SD-WAN endpoints
-
Identify and architect dependencies between the DI Network and DAF Enterprise IT and base infrastructure, developing design courses of action to mitigate risks and ensure seamless integration at operational sites
-
Support quarterly Release Planning Events (RPEs) and 90-day DI Network release cycles, contributing to the definition of release scope, feature decomposition, and work package planning activities
-
Participate in technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and program milestone events, providing senior-level engineering expertise and recommendations to government and program leadership
-
Mentor junior systems engineers and cross-functional team members, establishing engineering standards, design best practices, and technical documentation quality across the program
