SAIC is seeking a highly driven and detail-oriented Integration Technician to join our team working on the SAIC Surface Systems program supporting NIWC Charleston.
The Integration Technician will play a key role in ensuring the seamless installation, troubleshooting, and testing of advanced systems on USN ships, contributing directly to the success of this critical defense project.
This position requires a professional with a strong technical aptitude, hands-on experience with hardware installations, and a collaborative mindset for working in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
This position requires frequent travel, both CONUS and OCONUS, obtaining a US Passport will be required.
Primary Responsibilities:
· System Installation: Follow detailed written instructions, procedures, and engineering drawings to install equipment into communication racks onboard US Navy vessels. Effectively utilize tools, hardware, and equipment to ensure secure and accurate installations. Maintain attention to detail to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
· Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Perform on-site troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues encountered during the integration processes. Collaborate with engineering and technical leads to implement appropriate fixes and prevent recurrence of issues. Document troubleshooting activities and solutions for process improvement and knowledge-sharing purposes.
· Software Configuring & Validation: Assist with software loading and system configuration in accordance with written procedures. Assist with comprehensive Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Government Acceptance Testing (GAT) to verify system functionality and ensure performance specifications are met. Provide input and feedback to address issues and discrepancies encountered during testing phases. Work closely with quality assurance teams to maintain compliance with program and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Required Education:
· High School Diploma and formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or four (4) year electronics apprentice program. Formal electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors.
Required Experience:
· Two (2) years of practical experience in the installation of subassemblies, i.e. switches, servers, power distribution units into communication rack systems using basic hand tools and following engineering drawings.
· Cable fabrication experience to include CAT5/6, coaxial, multipin cables utilizing various hand tools and soldering.
· Familiarity with basic IT practices such as setting IP addresses on equipment and loading software, following written procedures.
Desired Experience:
· Demonstrated ability to work independently with general supervision, make critical decisions, maintain thorough records of shift activities and keep supervision fully briefed on current issues.
· Candidates must be self-motivated, possess good writing skills, able to produce reports, be an effective communicator, and have good reading skills to interpret policies and procedures.
· Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.)
Clearance:
· Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Clearance.
