Description
The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing all duties and tasks (safety, maintenance, logistics, finances, etc.) necessary to lead site operations' personnel and work activities associated with safely operating tractor-trailers to handle the loading, unloading and delivery procedures necessary to transport petroleum coke from local refinery to area customers. This operation is located in Melvindale, MI. (Detroit area). Forecast maintenance expenditures on assets and equipment Hire and train new and current staff Oversee dispatch Understand financial aspect of the Savage System (Budget, Projections, Dailies, & Variances) Understand and implements the Savage Safety Program “Hands-on”, hard-working, self-starting Manager, having working knowledge of the transportation industry Able to interact with all levels of management, co-workers, customers and other company personnel Provide leadership to each employee by teaching and training them in the following areas: Communication (good interpersonal skills) Team Building and Employee Training Creative solutions driven to keep employee turnover low A positive leader with the ability to be proactive in problem solving, making decisions, organizing and directing people, and utilizing coaching techniques for improving behaviors Aptitude and proficiency with computer operations Organized and handle several projects at a time Safety and Environmental Compliance Compliance with Operational Processes and Procedures Maintenance Planning and Completion Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors Requirements of a successful Operations Manager Minimum of 2 years of college education preferred 6 – 8 years' DOT experience including: Truck driving/truck maintenance/tanker trailer experience Refinery or other related industry experience Experience with leading a diverse group of people Qualified candidates must be able to pass an extensive background check, MVR, Pre-Employment Drug Screen and Physical Class A CDL is a plus Here are some of the physical requirements for this role This position requires working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions Must be able to climb steps and ladders Should have the ability to use basic hand tools Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds
