The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

 

The Industry and Security Analysis Group (ISAG) within JOID provides analytical, technical, and program support to promote, grow, and protect the U.S. industrial base. ISAG's support spans the Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Commerce, and other agencies to deliver critical decision support to national security leaders. Our team informs policy decisions, enables execution of comprehensive strategies and monitors and reports on the effectiveness of implementation. This enables senior leaders to execute strategies for developing and sustaining a robust industrial base that meets our nation's strategic resource objectives. From policy to practice, we are a team of economic and national security professionals providing innovative solutions for our Nation's most pressing security challenges.

 

We have immediate need for a 1260H Analyst with data analytic skills to provide onsite support in the Pentagon or the Mark Center (Alexandria, VA).


Responsibilities

The 1260H Analyst will support the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Industrial and Investment Security (I2S) to minimize national security risk and ensure the health, resilience, and security of the DIB, as well as U.S. leadership in critical technologies. The candidate will perform open-source research, classified research, and analyze government and company-furnished information to draft due diligence products on business entities identified as possible Chinese military companies operating in the U.S., as required by the 2021 NDAA Section 1260H. The candidate will execute 1260H annual reporting activities to develop and coordinate the 1260H list with DoW and interagency stakeholders for publication. The candidate will support policy, correspondence actions, and legislative matters related to inquiries from listed companies, Congress, and interagency partners. Will leverage advanced programming tool expertise to strengthen open-source research capabilities and enhance 1260H tracking systems. The candidate will ideally possess Mandarin language capability to support specific research requirements within the program.


Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience supporting national security issues
  • Bachelor's degree with a focus area in National Security, International Relations, Business, Information Technolgy, or related field
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms, data mining techniques, Python, SQL, and/or data visualization 
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Able to work fully onsite based on client needs

 Desired:

  • Experience supporting OSW, Military Intelligence, or economic analysis for industry
  • Proficiency reading and understanding written Chinese
  • Experience leveraging or designing advanced open-source research toolsets

Pay Range Information

Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Virginia, Pay Transparency Salary range: USD $95,000.00/Yr. - USD $115,000.00/Yr.
