Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, or Marketing
- 2 years of related experience, or 6 years of other experience in the field of public relations, public affairs, legislative engagement, or journalism-related with experience in research, conducting interviews, writing, editing, and obtaining release/approval for articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements, including electronic, web-based, and hard copy material
- Experience in social media management and analytics tools
- The ability to travel ~10% to conferences, program reviews, industry meetings, or other collaborative events
- US Citizenship, with the ability to obtain a DoD Temporary Secret Clearance by April 2025
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Hootsuite or other social media anlaytic programs
- Experience in coordinating special events
- Experience with media relations programs and community relations
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be able to conduct research and interviews, write and edit articles, news releases, and statements for initiatives such as the Surface Navy Association Symposium and distinguished visitor visits; Manage social media platforms and use analytics tools like Hootsuite to enhance NSWCDD's online presence; Support employee communication, media relations, and community relations programs, contributing to NSWCDD's public affairs and engagement strategies; Provide photography and multimedia support for a variety of communication needs, including exhibit planning and coordination
