Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM).  May substitute a non-technical degree with demonstrated technical acumen.
  • 3-8 years of recent military experience leveraging space systems.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, written and oral communication skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Clearance:  Active Secret (or above) with ability to qualify for and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • 3-8 years of recent experience with national satellite systems and capabilities (orbitology, communications, processes, and regulations, etc.)
  • Experience with military operations analysis or modeling and simulation.
  • Master's degree in a technical field such as Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and describing innovative concepts of operations and capability plans, and for translating them into detailed written and graphical descriptions used to develop and support tactical, operational and strategic cross domain warfare analysis and quantitative modeling and simulation (M&S) tools. They will be responsible for conducting military effectiveness analysis of alternative capabilities to inform the development of formal requirements and program plans across the spectrum of science and technology (S&T), research and development (R&D), and program acquisition. Support and eventually take a leading role in the development and employment of modeling and simulation analysis tools and in briefing analysis results to top-level government decision makers.

 

You will support analyses and work with modeling and simulation tools such as GCAM and Archer/Cyber Assassin and a variety of other DoD models and modeling environments such as Advanced Framework for Simulation Integration and Modeling (AFSIM), the Synthetic Theater Operations Research Model (STORM), and the Next Generation Threat System (NGTS).  They will also assist in the framing, development, and presentation of warfighting analyses by using models to analyze and assess military operations and technologies as well as conduct analysis of data sets, drafting white papers, compiling reports, and delivering briefs to clients.

 

This opportunity is based in Alexandria, VA. Due to the classified nature of the work, this support is on-site at the SPA HQ building.  It may involve some travel (<10%) depending on the project.
