The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues. The Acquisition and Technology Analysis Group within JOID specializes in the application of multi-disciplinary analytic skills to support multiple clients within the Department of Defense (DoD). These clients include the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)), DARPA, the Joint Staff, and USINDOPACOM. SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future. We have an immediate need for a Software Developer to provide onsite support out of Alexandria, VA. Responsibilities Digital Program Management (DPM) initiative at SPA aims to develop a comprehensive analytics platform to support the reporting and insights necessary for day-to-day management of Department of Defense (DoD) program offices. As a Software Developer for Machine Learning and Analytics, you will be a self-motivated professional responsible for: Designing a Machine-Learning oriented strategy to fulfill DPM's objectives. Managing a ML Strategy by collaborating with DPM Functional Area Leads, managing schedule, communicating with key stakeholders, documenting tasking, delegating tasking, mentoring junior developers on tasking, and performing code reviews. Executing a ML Strategy by developing the necessary software modules, components, reports, and cross-functional analysis algorithms. Validating a ML Strategy by developing test plans and metrics demonstrating the efficacy of specific ML models as applied to DPM. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Data Science. 5+ years of experience in developing software applications. 5+ years of experience with systems programming languages such as C#/Java/C++/Rust. Experience with scripting programming languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python. Experience working with Git for Source Control Management. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance. Able to work onsite at SPA Headquarters or a client office in Alexandria, VA. Desired: 3+ years of experience developing with Machine Learning. Experience mentoring junior developers. Experience presenting to large groups. Experience working in a DevSecOps environment.
