SPA's Strategic Division's Regional Strike System Group (RSSG) supports critical U.S. government programs providing Systems Engineering, Systems Safety, Modelling, Master Scheduling, and Financial Analysis support. RSSG is hiring immediately for a Systems Engineer in the Washington, DC (Maritime Plaza) office supporting the Nuclear-Armed, Sea-Launched Cruise Missile (SLCM-N) Program. Responsibilities The Shipboard Systems Engineer will provide technical and programmatic systems engineering support to the SLCM-N Shipboard Systems Engineering team. This position will contribute directly to the development of the SLCM-N shipboard systems engineering design and integration of the weapon system into the submarine. This a unique opportunity to join a mission-critical team of a major defense acquisition program. This position will involve daily Government customer interactions and will be part of a collaborative, technical, and fast paced team. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Interface with Government and other task stakeholders to identify, document, and evaluate design alternatives and functional allocation of performance requirements. Ensure high-level requirements, objectives, goals, and mission Use Cases are incorporated into the shipboard systems design and development of shipboard systems low-level requirements. Review and assess multiple design approaches while addressing overall program risk, cost, and schedule constraints. Recommend solutions to resolve technical challenges that can occur due to dynamic changes in characteristics, approach, criteria, and requirements. Ensure compatibility of hardware and software development and deployment with external stakeholders. Conduct liaison between program leadership and shipboard systems branch technical performer organizations to ensure accurate and consistent communication. Provide support for the management of classified and unclassified data repositories to facilitate information sharing between government and contractor organizations. Provide programmatic support including the coordination of technical meetings to inform program decision making and the recording and tracking of shipboard systems program action items. Develop plans for weapon system mission planning capability establishment. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Active DoD Secret or Top-Secret clearance, and the ability to maintain it throughout employment. 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following: aerospace/defense systems engineering, missile systems, or Navy submarine programs. Specific work experience in the design and development of hardware systems. Demonstrated experience with functional and system level requirements analysis, requirements generation, and technical community review. Knowledge of Weapons Systems Integration onboard US Navy submarines. 5-10 years of Submarine Operational experience with Strategic or Combat Weapons Systems. Desired Qualifications: Able to effectively communicate and exchange information with peers and senior personnel; good oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Cameo Systems Modeler, Dynamic Object-Oriented Repository System (DOORS). Knowledge of Nuclear Weapons Surety Processes and Procedures. Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
