Responsibilities

We are seeking a Mid-level Systems Engineer to support Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division's (NSWCDD) Electromagnetic and Sensor Department.

This role will bridge the gap between high-end Electronic Warfare (EW) capabilities and Integrated Combat Systems (ICS). The successful candidate will apply systems engineering principles which includes requirements maturation, system-of-systems integration, and lifecycle validation.

Anticipated tasks include:

  • Lead the technical analysis and integration of the AN/SLQ-32(V)7 variant into larger shipboard Combat Systems (e.g., Aegis), ensuring interoperability and mission success.
  • Drive the definition, decomposition, and traceability of system-level requirements. Translate high-level operational needs into detailed technical specifications for EW software and hardware components.
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert during formal reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), design sit-downs, and working groups, ensuring technical integrity across the program lifecycle.
  • Develop complex test scenarios within tactical simulation environments.
  • Execute simulation runs, identify system anomalies, and perform root-cause analysis to resolve integration blockers.
  • Collect, reduce, and analyze tactical data from simulation and test events. Draft formal technical reports and briefs that translate raw data into actionable engineering recommendations.
  • Support approximately one Test & Evaluation (T&E) event per month, validating that system performance meets established benchmarks in tactically relevant environments.

You must have the ability to work from NSWC Dahlgren full time and travel up to 25% to support off-site test events.

  • Bachelor or higher degree from an accredited university in engineering or other technical discipline
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience in requirements development, system design documentation, and the technical review process
  • Strong ability to analyze complex, multi-domain datasets and author formal, compliant technical reports, test plans, and executive briefs
  • Proven ability to develop system requirements and technical documentation
  • Strong capability to analyze complex datasets and translate them into formal, compliant test reports and briefs

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with tactical simulators and ability to run test scenarios
  • EW or Navy Combat Systems knowledge or experience
