Key Responsibilities

Regulated and Operational Tax Reporting

  • Preparation and review:
    • Tax provision calculations in line with FRS 102 for inclusion within UK  SORP accounts.
    • CT600 for UK domiciled funds in accordance with UK legislation and HMRC guidance (additional knowledge of Investments Trusts and PAIFs preferrable)
    • Annual and quarterly instalment payments in line with HMRC guidance
    • Company determinations in line with HMRC guidance.
    • Tax in price reconciliation
    • Asset reviews for income/CGT classification and HMRC reporting status
    • Excess reportable income
    • Indian CGT calculations and review of Indian tax return
    • Reconciliation of weekly withholding tax reviews and ability to answer or direct queries to appropriate parties
    • Overseas tax documentation
    • Tax reclaim reconciliations
    • Overseas tax documentation
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK tax legislation and UK SORP reporting.
  • Monitor and interpret tax legislation changes and ensure templates, processes, and reporting methodologies are updated accordingly.
  • Ability to liaise with HMRC on queries, notices and compliance matters
  • Ability to liaise with Custodians on tax documentation and tax rate queries
  • Provide technical support on complex fund tax matters and escalations.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet regulatory and SMD governance expectations.

Client Relationship & SRM Support

  • Act as point of contact for assigned clients, including support Tax Manager and Senior/Project Managers.
  • Confidently engage with clients and other senior stakeholders, providing clear technical explanations and solutions.
  • Support client change requests, new fund launches, onboarding and exits from a tax perspective.

Operational Excellence & BAU Oversight

  • Manage the tax operations workload within the UK Fund Tax Team, ensuring the team priorities are understood, accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to analysts and associates.
  • Review work performed by junior staff and ensure adherence to tax controls and procedures.

Process & Template Enhancements

  • Identify inefficiencies and recurring errors; propose and implement process improvements.
  • Lead updates to tax templates, calculators, and workflows following legislation changes, client requirements, or risk events.
  • Collaborate with the automation and change teams to enhance reporting methodologies.

Risk Events & Reporting

  • Support investigations and remediation of tax related risk events.
  • Document findings, root causes, and corrective actions, ensuring enhancements feed into departmental governance.
  • Contribute to management reporting, MI packs, KPIs, and oversight meetings.

Projects & Change Initiatives

  • Lead or support strategic tax projects across the team, including regulatory updates, operational enhancements, and cross‑department initiatives.
  • Provide tax subject matter expertise on wider business transformation projects.
  • Support implementation of new systems, regulatory requirements, and procedural updates.

Skills & Experience Required

Technical

  • Strong technical tax knowledge, ideally from practice (corporate tax, funds, audit, or financial services tax background).
  • Experience with regulated fund structures and associated tax reporting (desirable but can be trained if strong tax fundamentals exist).
  • Ability to interpret complex legislation and apply it in a practical business context.

Professional

  • 3–6 years' experience in tax, fund administration, or financial services.
