Who We Are:
The Economic Services Division (ESD) is responsible for the administration of benefits to help Vermonters meet their basic needs. ESD is one of 6 divisions under the Department for Children and Families (DCF) which is one of the largest departments (1000 employees) within the largest agency (Agency of Human Services) in the state of Vermont.
ESD Leadership recognizes that the division's biggest resource is our staff and is committed to continuously looking at ways to strengthen and support our workforce.
This position is located in the Barre district office which is known for our collaborative teaming, strong community partnerships, and office comradery.
The Role:
The primary role of the Economic Services Supervisor is to plan, assign, and review the work of eligibility staff. The supervisor evaluates performance of staff and distributes workload as necessary to meet the statewide and office needs. This role interprets policies, procedures, program regulations, and directives and may also provide technical assistance. The supervisor works closely with other district offices across the state and central office, as well as partners with other agencies to support families and administer benefits. This position will assess staff training needs to develop and facilitate district trainings for new and experienced staff. They will regularly review a variety of statistical and quality reports and perform monthly case reviews and track employee performance, utilizing data to identify trends and provide feedback and growth opportunities for the eligibility specialists they supervise. As a member of the district management team, this role will address client concerns and complaints and resolve conflict within the office and will also act on behalf of the district director during their absence. Additional tasks as assigned could also include participating on special committees and task forces, performing special studies, surveys, and other related work as required.

Environmental FactorsDuties are performed primarily in a standard office setting within a district office. Some travel may be necessary, for which private transportation must be available. Stressful interaction with upset or emotional clients may occur. Staff workload may frequently be heavy.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years as a Benefits Program Specialist or Reach Up Case Manager or case management experience at the same level in a human services, employment and training or education field.
OR
Associates degree AND three (3) years as a Benefits Program Specialist or Reach Up Case Manager or case management experience at the same level in a human services, employment and training or education field.
OR
Bachelor's degree or higher AND one (1) year as a Benefits Program Specialist or Reach Up Case Manager or case management experience at the same level in a human services, employment and training or education field.
