Overview

The Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking an organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who has the desire to learn new skills and software for a Financial Manager position.  

 

The position is responsible for the Rail & Aviation budget development, preparation, and maintenance, including preparing annual budget projections, providing monthly expenditure reports from various accounting software, analyzing trends, and advising the Financial Director, CFO and other members of the management team about the status of the division's finances and needed adjustments. As the financial lead for the Rail & Aviation divisions, you will be coding invoices, requesting transfers, moving funds, requesting additional funding and communicating all financial information to management. Interaction with Project Managers regarding multiple funding sources available for multiple projects is expected. The ideal candidate will have strong communication, Excel, and analytical skills.

 

The Business Support Services Division of Finance & Administration at AOT currently operates in a hybrid working environment, supporting remote work as well as 1 day/week in person for collaboration. Permission to participate in telework is applied for on an individual basis annually.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or a bachelor's degree in any discipline that includes or is supplemented by 20 credit hours in accounting AND three (3) or more years of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience INCLUDING experience managing programs, funding sources or staff.

OR

Bachelor's degree in any discipline AND five (5) or more years of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience INCLUDING experience managing programs, funding sources or staff.

OR

Associate's degree AND seven (7) years or more of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience which has included experience managing programs, funding sources or staff.

OR

High School diploma AND nine (9) years or more of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience which has included experience managing programs, funding sources or staff.

OR

One years as a Financial Manager II with the State of Vermont.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
