OverviewThe Vermont Department of Labor has an immediate opening for a full-time Staff Attorney/ Administrative Law Judge in its Workers' Compensation and Safety Division. This is an Exempt position.
DescriptionPrimary responsibilities include conducting pretrial conferences and formal hearings in disputed workers' compensation claims, ruling on discovery and other pretrial motions, and drafting decisions for the Commissioner's review. The position also includes responsibility for hearing and deciding disputed wage and hour claims and other tasks as may be assigned.
CompensationSalary is commensurate with experience and qualifications, in accordance with the State of Vermont's Attorney Pay Plan. The State of Vermont also offers a competitive benefits package.
Minimum RequirementsCandidates must be a member of good standing of the Vermont Bar, or eligible for admission, with superlative legal research, analysis, and writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in workers' compensation law and/or administrative law preferred. Experience in wage and hour law is also helpful.
