Overview

The State Of Vermont is looking for a Project Director to oversee the Vermont Pathways To Partnership Grant from the US Department of Education that will shape the systems and strategies that will help students with disabilities become self-advocates and primary decision makers to their futures in secondary education and employment!


This position will have responsibility for all aspects of this $10-million grant, including supervision of 5 staff members.  The team will work closely with other agencies, such as Agency Of Education, Vermont Center Of Independent Living, and local education agencies to ensure the success of post-secondary success for youth with disabilities and their families across Vermont.


This exciting opportunity will help develop relationships with various communities and agencies and build and develop specialized projects and programs like regional and community events, education, and outreach. 


Candidates should have:

  • Knowledge of a broad variety of disabilities and their impacts on education and employment
  • Knowledge of vocational rehab services and resources available to youth and adults with disabilities
  • Familiarity with state and federal laws regarding vocational rehabilitation labor practices and special education transition services

 

The VT-P2P Grant Project Director will work out of local offices of the Division For The Blind and Visually Impaired, with remote work from home hours available.  This position will also require travel around the state to various agencies and partners, for which a private means of transportation must be available.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a standard office setting and at premises of local DBVI offices and cooperating partners in addition to part-time remote work from home. Considerable travel around the State may be required, for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) or more years experience working with people with disabilities in a role such as educational or employment transition services, special education services or a related role.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors or higher in rehabilitation counseling, mental health, substance abuse, guidance counseling, psychology, social work, special education or a related field.

Special Requirements

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, pursuant to 20 V.S.A. 2056c or other applicable statutory authority, requires criminal record checks for all AHS positions, including motor vehicle driving record checks and national record checks where appropriate.
