Summary
The Senior Payroll Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. This position is responsible for managing all payroll functions, from calculating employee paychecks and withholding taxes to maintaining accurate payroll records. As a mentor to the Payroll Technician, the Senior Payroll Technician also conducts research on variances and complex payroll issues, and completes necessary reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead salary, commission, and hourly payrolls on monthly and semi-monthly cycles using the UKG Pro system.
• Maintain the UKG Timekeeping system by ensuring all associates are correctly set up.
• Respond to payroll questions and requests from employees and business units promptly.
• Run the interface weekly and upload it to UKG Pro for further processing.
• Balance input to output, adjusting timesheets or PTO accruals as necessary.
• Maintain employee payroll records, including earnings, deductions, garnishments, and tax documentation.
• Researches and resolves monthly payroll variances with general accounting.
• Balance multi-company payroll for quarterly and annual reporting.
• Responsible for year-end closing and timely distribution of W-2 forms.

Qualifications
• Familiarity with financial planning and analysis, accounting, and reporting.
• Ability to identify and affect appropriate risk and control mechanisms.
• Understanding of economic, accounting, and payroll principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
• General knowledge of laws and government regulations with the ability to research and verify that the company complies.
• General knowledge and experience in filing federal, state, and local payroll tax returns.

Education and Experience
• Minimum Required: High School Diploma or a combination of work experience and education.
• Minimum Required: 6+ years of experience processing multi-state payroll.

Licenses and Credentials
• Minimum Required: None.

Systems and Technology
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with UKG and Kronos is preferred.
