Description

The Vice President, Commercial Real Estate is responsible for identifying, structuring, closing, monitoring, and servicing commercial real estate loan opportunities. The VP manages a portfolio of commercial real estate relationships and is responsible for ensuring that all loan decisions, actions, and recommendations are based on a thorough understanding of each customer's financial needs, market conditions, and creditworthiness, while complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and Stifel Bank policies.

 



What We're Looking For

  • Evaluate, analyze, underwrite, and recommend various types of commercial real estate loans for approval.
  • Analyze financial statements, assess borrower creditworthiness, and develop cash flow models to support commercial lending opportunities.
  • Manage the documentation process and assist in negotiating loan agreements and other credit-related documentation to facilitate closing.
  • Prepare ongoing credit evaluations, financial statement analyses, annual reviews, risk ratings, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and report on the financial performance and credit quality of an assigned loan portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships and identify opportunities for portfolio growth.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Risk Management, and other Stifel divisions, to effectively manage transactions and client relationships.
  • Provide guidance and support to analysts and junior associates while fostering professional development.
  • Participate in special projects and other commercial lending initiatives as needed.


What You'll Bring

  • Understanding of and commitment to compliance with all banking regulations and internal policies.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, credit analysis, and commercial real estate underwriting.
  • Working knowledge of commercial lending practices and applicable regulatory requirements, including OCC and FDIC guidance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with borrowers, banking partners, attorneys, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify issues, assess risks, and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong relationship management and business development skills.


Education & Experience

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting or another business-related field.
  • Minimum required: 5+ years' of related work experience in corporate/commercial lending, debt capital markets, finance, or accounting.


Licenses & Credentials

  • Minimum Required: None


Systems & Technology

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
