The Cultural Resources GIS Analyst is responsible for the planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS data in accordance with the requirements of various projects as assigned by project managers providing service to public/private clients. Candidates must be knowledgeable with ESRI's software products. Duties include performing simple to complex data analyses to provide Clients with desired deliverables, and include database management, data migration, and mentoring other GIS personnel. This position may be required to work at Client locations to support their GIS program.

Responsibilities:  
The Cultural Resources GIS Analyst will play a key role in advancing digital data management initiatives, supporting development of environmental data layers, data dictionaries, field collection guides for electronic data capture in the field, managing relational databases, producing client deliverables (i.e., report figures, data visualizations, and web applications),  Major duties/responsibilities of the position require a working knowledge of and the ability to lead/carry out the following tasks:

•    Preparing maps for work plans, management summaries, technical reports, and other deliverables.
•    Procuring Class I data from SHPOs and agencies.
•    Preparing data packages as part of submittals to agencies/SHPOs.
•    Preparing GIS layers to inform field crews.
•    Support QA/QC and data scrubbing of incoming field data.
•    Providing data collection feedback for field crews.
•    Liaising between field crews and cultural management.
•    Serving as key expert on data collection tools and functionalities.
•    Interface with client, DoD cooperators, and project GIS team for cultural requests on SCOPE.
•    Supporting ad hoc GIS/mapping/data management requests from Media Manager, Field Lead, Principal Investigator.
•    Produce GIS products and develop surveys using Survey 123 and/or FieldMaps.
•    Develop cultural resources data layers for a variety of environmental aspects including field survey, construction monitoring, and data recovery.
•    Convert pre-existing environmental data to conformance with new data layers.
•    Maintain and refine procedures for data collection, processing, and storage.
•    Meet with clients and project team to define data needs, project requirements, or required outputs.
•    Develop GIS projects consisting of vector, raster, and tabular data.
•    Responsible for the development and production of reports, presentations, maps, and models for a variety of environmental, utility, and cultural resources projects.
•    Perform quality control on database attributes.
•    May require need to operate and maintain GIS system hardware, software, plotter, digitizer, color printer, and video camera.
•    Provide geospatial technical support.
•    Mentor staff/clients with ESRI ArcGIS software, digital data collection, and data management.  
•    Occasionally deploy to the field to support field operations.
•    Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

•    Complex database management skills preferred.
•    Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.

•    A valid driver's license in good standing.

Education & Experience:  
•    Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field preferred.
•    Associate's degree or other formal training in GIS or related program such as cartography, geography, geomatics, surveying, or other program focused on geospatial data, plus 5 years of experience is the minimum accepted criteria. 
•    Previous GIS project experience with a focus on cultural resource projects, assessment surveys, evaluative testing, monitoring, and field data collection is highly preferred.

Language & Communication Skills: Effective oral and written communication essential to this position.  Must be fluent in the English language, reading, speaking, and writing.  Report and writing for a range of projects may be required. 

Other Skills:  
•    Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
•    Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
