Tetra Tech's Infrastructure Division is seeking an Engineer In Training (E.I.T.) to join our Winnipeg Water practice.  This group works on a wide range of municipal and process projects including the master planning, design, and construction of urban, rural, and remote infrastructure for municipalities and First Nations across Western and Northern Canada.  Infrastructure includes drinking water, storm water, and wastewater treatment and conveyance (piping and pumping) systems, including site grading, flood protection, and land drainage design.  The successful candidate would be joining an exciting and fast-paced environment with excellent learning and growth potential.

You will perform a technical role on a wide variety of engineering assignments under the mentorship of our senior practitioners.  Candidates should have excellent analytical and communication skills, which will be demonstrated by past job experiences, extra-curricular activities and/or volunteer work.

 

 Your Role: 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

·       Design activities such as modelling of piped systems and overland drainage, performing engineering design calculations, developing construction plans and specifications, and estimating costs

·       Technical writing of deliverables such as technical memos, feasibility studies, and engineering assessment and design reports

·       Construction support services, such as contract administration, project coordination, permitting, and budget management

·       Periodic field work such as for asset condition assessments, site reviews, construction inspection, and performance testing.

·       Assist with project management and proposal activities as required such as project coordination, proposal writing, as well as tracking of scope, schedule and budget

·       Occasional overtime may be required

 

Qualifications:

·       University degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline such as biosystems engineering. 

·       One year of experience in implementing infrastructure projects, with preference for direct industry experience in land drainage or wastewater conveyance systems.

·       Excellent technical, analytical, and computer modeling / programming skills

·       Strong communication skills including interpersonal, written, and verbal abilities.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Strong interest in municipal infrastructure demonstrated through work experience, projects, and/or course selections

·       Computer skills with respect to technical analysis (EPANET, Infoworks, AutoCAD/Civil 3D) will set you apart from your peer group

·       Past experience with topographic survey, construction inspection, and/or contract administration

·       Ability to execute and prioritize effectively in a multidisciplinary and multi-project environment

·       Leadership and business acumen

·       Full Class 5 Driver's Licence preferred but not required

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

Some Tetra Tech positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law.  These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.

A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.

To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
