Glumac, a Tetra Tech company, is adding a Senior Electrical Engineer – Mission Critical Data Center Program Lead to our Electrical Team based in Silicon Valley, CA. Your Impact:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer – Mission Critical Data Center Program Lead, you will play a key role in designing next-generation data centers that are energy-efficient, resilient, and scalable. You will lead multi-discipline project teams, ensuring technical excellence, cost efficiency, and schedule optimization. This role involves overseeing complex power distribution systems, designing backup power solutions, and advancing industry standards in mission-critical infrastructure. Additionally, you will work closely with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to provide cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving demands of artificial intelligence and cloud-based technologies.
Your Role:
• Manage and execute data center design projects ranging from small to hyperscale facilities.
• Provide technical leadership in power distribution, substations, switchgear, MCCs, grounding, lighting, and electrical heat tracing.
• Conduct power network studies, including arc flash, load flow, short circuit, motor starting, relay coordination, and harmonic studies.
• Develop conceptual and detailed electrical system designs, load calculations, equipment selection, and heat trace systems.
• Design backup power solutions, including UPS systems and generators.
• Oversee QA/QC processes, ensuring compliance with design standards, codes, and constructability requirements.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure project alignment and stakeholder coordination.
• Assist in business development efforts, identifying new contract opportunities and client relationships.
• Participate in scope development, budgeting, and preparation of bid documents.
• Lead program management efforts, ensuring schedule, cost, and quality control.
• Stay ahead of technical advancements in data center design and integrate emerging technologies into project solutions.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering professional development and knowledge transfer.
• Assist in the recruitment and talent development of engineering professionals to support workload demands.
• Serve as a key representative in client meetings, stakeholder discussions, and project negotiations.
• Provide support for construction phases, responding to RFIs, reviewing cost estimates, and resolving design challenges.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent field.
• 8-15 years of experience in consulting engineering within an A/E firm.
• Proven experience in data center design is required.
• Experience in microelectronics, mission-critical, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, or advanced manufacturing is preferred.
• Expertise in REVIT, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency in power analysis software such as SKM, EasyPower, ETAP, and Bluebeam.
• Advanced working knowledge of NEC Codes, hazardous area classifications, and California Building Codes (CBC).
• Strong client-facing, relationship management, and communication skills.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
• Construction experience is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain successful client relationships.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license required.

Salary Range: $180,000 - $225,000 (depending on experience)
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the compensation scale for this role. Actual salaries will be determined based on location, experience, responsibilities, and qualifications. This salary range is just one component of Tetra Tech's total compensation package, which includes benefits, professional development opportunities, and additional incentives.
