Position Summary:

As a Senior H&H Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading watershed planning and MS4 stormwater permitting projects through advanced hydrologic and hydraulic modeling. Your expertise will be critical in preparing technical reports and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate H&H analyses into complex water resources and environmental initiatives.

Essential Job Functions:

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:

  • Lead the development and review of complex hydrologic and hydraulic models for a variety of municipal water resources projects including flood risk assessment, stormwater management, and watershed studies.

  • Provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff, providing guidance on modeling methodologies, software applications, and project deliverables.

  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communications to ensure timely and successful project completion.

  • Prepare and review technic 

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements that impact municipal clients to continuously improve project outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • Minimum of 20 years of professional experience specializing in hydrology and hydraulics engineering.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM).

  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of leading complex engineering projects.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines consistently.

  • Team-oriented attitude with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate a computer and related office equipment for extended periods.

  • Must have a dedicated, ergonomically appropriate home office workspace.

  • Ability to participate in virtual meetings and collaborate effectively using digital communication tools.

Additional Information

  • This position is available for remote work with occasional travel to our office in Fairfax, VA.

  • This is an hourly, non-exempt position with a variable weekly schedule. Hours worked will vary week to week depending on project needs and are unlikely to exceed more than 20 hours per week on a regular basis.
