Description

At Tetra Tech, the Water division provides industry-recognized expertise to hundreds of clients nationally and around the world. Our comprehensive civil engineering, planning and environmental services cover green stormwater infrastructure, river and estuary restoration, coastal infrastructure design, fish passage and habitat restoration, hydrology and hydraulics, flood protection design, and more. Through these services, the Tetra Tech Water division is committed to providing water resource solutions that improve the quality of life, protect public health and safety, and restore environmental quality for our clients and the communities we live in.

The Southeast region of the Water division provides services in Georgia, Florida and other areas in the southeastern U.S. Supporting several state and municipal clients within this region, as well as multiple federal agencies, the Southeast team has completed some of the most technically challenging projects in the region and beyond, including:

·        Supporting a number of initiatives to encourage “smart” stormwater design for critical environmental, regulatory, and community benefits for Gwinnett County, Georgia, including flood and water supply resiliency. Key support includes development of the stormwater manual and BMP monitoring guidance, ordinance review/revision, BMP construction inspection training, and design of high-profile demonstration projects.

·        Leading water resources engineering design and permitting efforts to develop innovative stormwater treatment projects for multiple counties in Florida. Efforts include developing countywide stormwater master plans, developing models to identify current and future flooding locations, developing engineering designs, construction plans and specifications, permit applications, and more.

·        Low impact design for green infrastructure projects and development of watershed management plans in conjunction with on-call stormwater services for several municipalities in Georgia, Florida and more.

To support our continued success as a leader in water resources management for our clients, we have an immediate opportunity for a Stormwater Design Engineer to join the Southeast team. For this role, we are open to hybrid work schedules in our Atlanta, GA, Cocoa, FL, or Jacksonville, FL offices, or remote work schedules within the southeast United States region. In this role, you would have the opportunity to:

  • Lead or support stormwater infrastructure projects, including green infrastructure, low impact development, and dam assessments and rehabilitation design.
  • Develop technical designs and prepare construction and bid documents, including plans, specifications, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Analyze water quality and watershed data using GIS and statistical methods, creating detailed charts, maps, and reports to communicate findings.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure high quality deliverables through quality control and assurance processes.
  • Engage in business development activities, including building client relationships, contributing to proposals, and identifying opportunities to expand services.
  • Support project documentation by preparing memos, technical reports, and presentations.

To be a successful Stormwater Design Engineer, you'll need to have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering (master's degree preferred).
  • At least five years of relevant engineering experience, with a strong foundation in stormwater design and watershed management.
  • An active Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Georgia or Florida (or the ability to gain licensure within six months of hire).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or ArcGIS.
  • Proven analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, demonstrated through education and professional experience.
  • Experience preparing and delivering client presentations, with a focus on municipal or other public-sector clients.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, and an eagerness to learn additional design and analysis software as needed.

Likewise, here's what you can expect from Tetra Tech as a Stormwater Design Engineer:

  • An unparalleled focus on health and safety. As our CEO, Dan Batrack, says “While we work on tens of thousands of projects every year, there's not a single one of those projects that are more important than every one of our employees going home every day safely.”
  • An opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists, landscape architects, planners, and more to develop creative and innovative solutions for some of the most technically challenging projects in the United States.
  • A fair and equitable compensation package, which includes a competitive base salary + bonus eligibility, flexible health benefit and paid time-off options. The base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $120,000; individual compensation will vary within this range based on your skills, qualifications and experience as they relate to the requirements for this position.
