Position Summary:
This internship supports roadway and transportation engineering tasks for the Miami Transportation Group. Under the direction of licensed engineers, the intern will assist with FDOT plan preparation, quantity calculations, engineering exhibits, and general project support while gaining exposure to engineering software and professional workflows.

Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
⦁    Assist with roadway and transportation design tasks under the supervision of licensed engineers.
⦁    Support preparation of FDOT plans, spreadsheets, quantity calculations, and design drawings.
⦁    Prepare engineering exhibits and graphics.
⦁    Assist with administrative project tasks.
⦁    Learn and apply engineering software such as MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.

Required Qualifications:
⦁    Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
⦁    Sophomore standing or higher preferred.
⦁    Interest in roadway design, transportation engineering, and public infrastructure.
⦁    Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
⦁    Basic knowledge of engineering principles and design tools.
⦁    Ability to work part-time during academic terms (16–32 hours per week; schedule flexible with notice).

Preferred Qualifications:
⦁    Prior exposure to FDOT projects or MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer.

Physical Requirements:
⦁    Ability to perform basic office tasks, including working at a computer for extended periods.
⦁    Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally (e.g., carrying binders, field materials).
⦁    Occasional fieldwork may be required, including walking on uneven surfaces.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
⦁    Primarily office-based work with occasional field observations.
⦁    Moderate noise levels typical of office environments.
⦁    Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions during field activities.

Additional Information:
⦁    Part-time, on-site internship based in Miami, FL.
⦁    16–32 hours per week, aligned with academic schedules.
⦁    Internship duration may extend across academic terms depending on performance and project needs.
