The role:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Thermo Fisher Scientific for an account manager to manage the universities of Manchester, Sheffield, and Liverpool, responsible for driving growth in our Biosciences portfolio - protein, cell and molecular biology (Invitrogen, Gibco & Applied Biosystems). This includes endpoint PCR equipment, fluorescent microscopes and flow cytometers and various other small bench-top instruments.
This role requires an individual with a proven track record in sales and a deep technical understanding combined with the ability to empathise and resolve customer issues.

Key responsibilities:
• Increase & generate sales to customers via onsite visits following up with calls and email correspondence
• Participate in sales training programmes as presented by the company to develop appropriate selling skills
• Develop, write, and execute a strategic business plan for managing assigned territory annually, updated quarterly
• Working with marketing and/or technical sales specialists for supply agreements and contracts
• Set up and coordinate technical seminars, and host and assist with product shows on a biannual and annual basis
• Maintain and increase current customer database through company customer relations management software (SalesForce CRM).
• Communicate key competitive activities, trends, and changing customer development plans and priorities, which includes emerging customers

We are looking for someone who has:
• BSc in biology, molecular biology or biochemistry (PhD preferred), or the equivalent knowledge
• Sales experience with in-depth knowledge of cell culture and molecular biology
• Experience of working within a life science lab
• Public speaking and presentation skills
