The job:

As our new Meetings and Events Specialist, EMEA, you will plan, execute and measure events such as conferences, tradeshows, sales meetings and other proprietary events across the EMEA region, both virtually and physically. You will coordinate event technology projects and initiatives, being at the heart of assessing, estimating, and experimenting with new digital experience-based technology solutions to advance our marketing impact and improve our customer experience.

This role requires an experienced project manager who is a strong team player, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. You will work closely with Marketing and other internal stakeholders and key external partners to position Thermo Fisher Scientific as the Leader in Serving Science and drive revenue growth. To be successful in this role you need to be skilled in co-ordinating large cross-functional teams, while managing multiple complex projects under tight time schedules.

With this position comes a commitment to helping internal and external customers achieve every event initiative and exceed their event objectives by continually refining services and processes to satisfy evolving needs.

We are offering this role as fully remote (working from home), based anywhere in the UK. Alternatively, if preferred you can be office-based at our Inchinnan, Paisley offices. When safe to do so, the role will involve extensive travel across the EMEA region on a weekly and monthly basis – up to 50% at our busiest times – and will involve working weekends and out of hours fairly regularly.

What will you do?

  • Plan, execute and manage a wide range of meetings and events across the EMEA region in accordance with the divisional events strategy, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders (regional and global marketing, local sales team, and other marketing operations partners)
  • Drive lead generation and conversion into revenue to ensure growth through events
  • Collaborate and build strategic relationships with key stakeholders (regional and global marketing, sales and other marketing teams) to define and execute event plans
  • Create long-term product/technical vision and strategy for webinars and virtual experiences
  • Help drive the development of new marketing technology strategies and best-practices through research and development of new systems, platforms, and capabilities
  • Research, define business requirements, evaluate, select, onboard, and manage a selection of virtual event platforms and vendors
  • Be the administrator for Marketing Concierge, an in-house tool which supports commercial functions to deliver their own events
  • Communicate and educate the marketing and commercial teams on virtual event platforms, processes, strategies, and best-practices
  • Liaise with external suppliers (exhibit house, creative agencies, etc.) to design, produce and deliver events assets, requiring strong knowledge of effective event operation processes
  • Seek out innovative and cutting-edge ways to market to customers through events
  • Control and manage event budgets and reconciliation.
  • Drive customer data acquisition and profiling through events tactics
  • Analyse and report on events results and pro-actively provide recommendations for future event planning

Who we are looking for:

  • Several years' experience in an event management and/or project management position
  • Experience in event planning in a highly technical field or scientific environment is preferred
  • Working knowledge of sales and marketing infrastructure systems such as CRMs, marketing databases, and project management software
  • Strong knowledge of marketing demand generation mix including email, social media, online marketing and channel marketing, with a customer centric focus
  • Strong organizer with ability to manage large cross-functional teams and multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
  • Experience with controlling and managing event budgets
  • Hands on experience with virtual platforms and technical production of events
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, project management, presentation and planning skills
  • Able to negotiate and influence without direct authority, able to adapt quickly to any situation
  • Creative flair and ability to suggest innovative ideas
  • Fluent in English
  • Willing and able to travel extensively on a monthly basis, including weekends and out of hours
