RN Director of Cardiovascular ICU and TelemetryFull Time
M-F 8am-5pm with after-hours call as needed
The CV/CICU is a 24-bed intensive care unit providing comprehensive nursing care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Our team consistently incorporates Evidence-Based Practice to ensure high-quality, effective patient care. Through Shared Governance, staff integrate core professional values and actively contribute to a framework that aligns nursing practice with UMC's mission, vision, and strategic plan. Staff engagement and input remain essential as we maintain and advance our Magnet® journey.
Within the CV/CICU, the nursing care delivery model is Primary Nursing. The targeted nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, with a 1:1 assignment for patients with higher acuity. Ratios may be adjusted by the charge nurse based on patient needs and staffing considerations. This model requires nurses to effectively coordinate interdisciplinary care and advocate for individualized patient needs.
Nursing care is delivered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Key nursing diagnostic and therapeutic modalities include comprehensive assessments and individualized care planning, IV therapy, cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, postoperative care, safety management, skin integrity maintenance, respiratory support, psychosocial care, patient and family education, infection prevention, and medication administration. Physician coverage includes private providers, UMC-Physicians, and TTUHSC faculty and resident physicians.

The Telemetry department provides continuous or intermittent telemetry monitoring as ordered for adult patients at UMC Health System including med-surg, intermediate care and intensive care units. Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Telemetry can currently monitor up to 321 patients with continued expansion planned, aligning with strategic hospital growth.
