Position Summary:

The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) is comprised of approximately 800 staff members of diverse functions providing services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers—striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them. Design & Construction Services' role is to support the University's strategic plan through the design and construction of new and renovated facilities. Uses contract administration skills and organization policies and procedures to draft and issue standard contracts related to construction including those for design and engineering services, other professional services, and construction contracts utilizing various delivery methods including design-bid-build, design-build, and job order. Works on contract administration problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. May require guidance regarding specific transactions, drafting of complex contract language and assistance in interpretation of contract language.

$29.26 - $51.29 (Hourly Rate)

 

Required:

1 to 3 years of experience in contract or business administration in the public sector; similar experience in a commercial or corporate environment; or a combination of relevant education and experience. New graduates in related field will be considered.

• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Written, verbal and professional interpersonal communications skills; and ability to deal effectively with broad and diverse constituencies ensuring strong customer service orientation and skills. Organizational, presentation and negotiation skills. Listening and political acumen skills.

 

Preferred:

Working knowledge of internal departmental / unit operating policies, applicable state and federal regulations and general contract terms. Working knowledge and understanding of specific contracting assignments. Knowledge of the organization, including its infrastructure, goals, mission, rules, policies, guidelines, etc Knowledge of construction documents that include boiler plate (general conditions, exhibits, bid form, bidding procedures, advertisements, agreements, insurance requirements), specifications, and the list of drawings. Knowledge of the UC Facilities Manual and Campus Policies and Procedures Manual as it relates to contract documents/professional service agreements and the ability to implement any revisions. General understanding of construction law and the California Public Contract Code, especially as they apply to the University of California and other public entities. Skill and ability to effectively manage construction-related disagreements including but not limited to bid protests and change order requests. Knowledge of Professional Service Agreements or industry equivalent. Experience with contract administration in the public sector or related field

 

Special Conditions Required:

Must be willing to work in a hybrid environment that typically includes three days per week in office and two days of remote work. Must comply with UC Vaccination Policy
