Job Opening ID: 40426 Reports To: Chief Administrative Officer Working Title: Lab Assistant I Department: Physiology & Biophysics Bargaining Unit: TX FLSA: Non-Exempt Payroll Job Code: 009605 Job Location: UCI Campus- Irvine Percent of Time: 100% Work Schedule: 8-5, M-F Employee Class: Career   Position Summary:   UC Irvine Department of Physiology & Biophysics provides leadership and excellence in teaching and research.   This full-time position is to contribute to ongoing projects related to research on Alzheimer's disease. Specifically, it will involve assisting graduate students in performing behavioral assays, stereotaxic surgeries, light sheet imaging, and analysis of data collected from these experiments. In addition to this central role, the position will also involve various laboratory tasks including organization of the lab, genotyping animals, running PCR reactions, and assisting with graduate students and postdocs as necessary. Making solutions, preparing DNA, and conducting molecular cloning experiments will all be included. The ideal candidate will have previous research experience, particularly with using rodents as well as with microscopes, and schedule flexibility. This person would also be excited to work in a team.

$19.69 - $22.82 (Hourly Rate)

  Required:   Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. One or two years working in a laboratory environment will also be necessary to be able to perform the required tasks at the expected level.   Preferred:   The ideal candidate will have previous research experience in an independent laboratory. In particular, experience using expensive, delicate equipment is highly valued.   Special Conditions Required:   Irregular work hours
