In this role, you will contribute to audits, advisory engagements, investigations, and other projects that offer independent and objective evaluations. Your work will help achieve the department's mission of providing risk-based assurance, actionable advice, valuable insight, and strategic foresight to university leadership with a focus on governance, risk management, and internal control. May lead small, less complex projects. Performs duties as directed by audit leadership.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in an applicable field. At least two (2) years of related professional experience.

- Two years of experience in internal audit, with a focus on public sector and higher education environments.
- Experience in IT auditing, with foundational knowledge of key IT frameworks and standards such as COBIT and NIST, as well as IT general controls, application controls, cybersecurity principles, data privacy regulations, and IT-related risks and controls.
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft, audit data analytics, and audit management software.
- Master's degree in a field related to business or information technology.
- Certificate in Internal Audit from an Internal Audit Education Partnership (IAEP) Program.

Conduct Engagements
- Perform engagement-level risk analysis and planning to define project objectives, scope, and methodologies.
- Develop audit programs for routine audits and/or project plans to meet defined objectives.
- Gather, research, analyze, and observe relevant information, data, and evidence to fulfill project steps.
- Compile data from the university's information systems and other internal and external sources.
- Conduct interviews, questionnaires, and surveys to collect audit evidence.
- Use audit management software to perform audit activities.
- Apply appropriate sampling methods, artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics tools to enhance audit processes and meet objectives.
Engagement Documentation
- Prepare detailed, well-organized, and self-explanatory working papers to support audit conclusions.
- Identify issues and contribute to the development of recommendations.
- Draft observations and recommendations from audit work, and assist in evaluating client responses.
Client Relations
- Communicate professionally to understand client processes and gather audit evidence.
- Collaborate with campus stakeholders to support audit activities and maintain strong client relationships.
Internal Communications
- Keep audit leadership informed on audit progress, emerging issues, potential solutions, and client interactions.
Other Duties
- Maintain and continuously develop professional competencies in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards through ongoing education and training.
- Travel occasionally to off-site locations for audit work or professional conferences.
- Work occasional evening or weekend hours as needed.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by audit leadership.

- Apply creative thinking and innovation to improve audit processes.
- Show aptitude and willingness to take on leadership of projects to develop project management skills.
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

Remote Work Notice
Flexible and hybrid remote work environment, UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement required. Must be located within the State of Texas and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. Use of a computer and other standard office equipment. Moderate noise level. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.
