Position Summary:

As a Garbage Truck Helper at Waste Pro USA, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the truck driver by assisting with the collection and disposal of garbage, yard waste, and recyclables. This position requires teamwork, strong work ethic, and dedication to providing excellent customer service while ensuring safety and efficiency on the job.

• Assist in Waste Collection: Help load garbage, yard waste, and recyclables into the truck. This may involve manually lifting trash bags, bulk items, or containers, or pushing toters to the truck tipper.
• Operate Truck Equipment: Use the truck's packing mechanism to safely compact waste into the truck. Climb on and off the rear truck step to load refuse, waste, and carts.
• Customer Service Excellence: Provide a high level of courteous service to residents, ensuring a positive and Distinguishably Different experience. Respond to customer inquiries and direct them to Customer Service or the appropriate authorities when necessary.
• Safe Operations: Ensure that the truck is safely operated in accordance with all company and regulatory safety guidelines (ANSI, OSHA, Waste Pro Absolute Guidelines).
• Assist with Truck Safety: Help guide the driver when backing up the truck, ensuring the area is safe and clear.
• Truck Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, including using a shovel or hoe to clean behind the compactor blade. At the end of each shift, spray and clean the hopper and truck as needed.
• Manual Cleanup: Assist with cleaning up scattered refuse or accidental spills, ensuring the area is left neat and tidy. Return customer containers properly.
• Emergency Assistance: Be ready to step in and assist in emergency situations as required.
• Flexible Team Support: Be available to assist with other routes as needed to ensure completion of daily work tasks.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor to ensure the efficient operation of the team and company.

• Participate in company-sponsored training programs to enhance job skills and knowledge.
• Stay updated on new technologies and procedures used by Waste Pro.
• Assist in maintaining safety standards and ensuring compliance with all regulations.

• Work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, and extreme temperatures.
• Exposure to noise, vibrations, fumes, odors, and dust is common.

• Teamwork: Must be able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and carrying heavy items, climbing on/off trucks, and performing repetitive physical tasks.
• Customer Service Skills: Able to interact courteously with customers, answer questions, and address concerns effectively.
• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety practices and the ability to follow guidelines set by Waste Pro and regulatory bodies.
• Adaptability: Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and adjust to dynamic routes and tasks as needed.
• Communication: Must be able to understand and follow instructions, and effectively communicate with the team and supervisors.
