Employment Status: Part Time

Hours: 24 hours weekly (48 hours bi-weekly)

Shift: Varied Hours (Days, Mid, Nights, every 3rd weekend)

Position Reports To: Family Birth Center Director

Department Description

The Family Birth Center at Wilson Health provides comprehensive care for mothers and newborns in a supportive, patient-centered environment. The team works collaboratively to care for patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum. The patient population includes mothers, newborns, and families during the childbirth experience.

Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. In this role, you will support care for mothers and newborns, assist with procedures, and contribute to a safe and compassionate care environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to mothers and newborns under the direction of a Registered Nurse
  • Assist in labor and delivery, including patient support, positioning, and preparation of equipment
  • Support postpartum care for mothers and infants following delivery
  • Perform newborn screenings, including PKU, CCHD, bilirubin, and hearing tests
  • Function in the surgical scrub role for OB procedures and maintain readiness of the OB OR
  • Observe, document, and report patient status and changes to the Registered Nurse
  • Administer treatments and medications within LPN scope of practice
  • Reinforce patient and family education and provide emotional support
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Support infection control, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Perform clerical and support duties to ensure efficient unit operations
  • Participate in on-call, weekend, and holiday rotations as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the department
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program
  • Current LPN license in the State of Ohio
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and respond effectively in urgent situations

Preferred Experience:

  • Labor & Delivery, OB Tech, or Surgical Scrub experience
  • Inpatient hospital patient care experience

Certifications:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required
