Working Hours: 1st Shift (Monday-Friday) HOURS WILL VARY - Start time may be as early as 6:45am. Monday - Friday - 6:45am - 6:00pm, working an 8-10 hour shift. SUMMARY: Under the direction of the physician, the Certified Medical Assistant will perform all clinical duties usually required of a Certified Medical Assistant in a medical office. Employee would work primarily between the Jackson Center and Botkins, Ohio WHMG Medical Offices. The Certified Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse shall report directly to the Clinical Administrator of Wilson Health Medical Group. All clinical medical assistants are required to maintain continuous certification. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs all duties under the supervision of the physician, and within the guidelines established by the physician; anticipates duties that need to be performed and strives to make the physician as efficient and effective as possible.
- Greets patients in courteously, and assists patients to the examination room in a helpful and compassionate manner; conducts self according to ASPIRE values.
- Obtains and accurately records vital signs, chief complaint, current medications and allergies.
- Assists physician with examinations, including blood draws, lab specimens, injections, electrocardiograms; assists physician with minor surgical procedures.
- Educates patients/family members on topics related to the patient's medical condition and care within the guidelines established by the physician.
- Documents in the patient's medical record accurately, appropriately, and thoroughly.
- Assists in ordering diagnostic tests and procedures, and making referrals, including referral tracking documentation in the practice management system.
- Communicates with patients and family members in a professional and compassionate manner; communicates test results under the guidance and direction of the physician.
- Performs quality control measures on all appropriate medical testing equipment, refrigerators, sterilizers; properly completes compliance logs regarding quality control.
- Maintains proper inventory of medical and lab supplies; orders supplies according to established guidelines.
- Follows all applicable federal and state laws and regulations; follows Wilson Health Medical Group and Wilson Health policies and procedures; always follows HIPAA Privacy and Security Practices.
- Assists with scheduling patients, faxing and electronic communications, telephone duties, form completion and other clerical duties as needed to maintain an efficient, effective medical office.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or Clinical Medical Assistant
- Graduation from accredited Medical Assisting program and/or two (2) years of experience working in the medical field as a medical assistant
- Required Minimum Education: Vocational/ Technical Degree Specialty/Major: Licensed Practical Nursing
