Shift:2ND shift Position Reports to: Environmental Services Manager                            Department Description: Wilson Health's Environmental Services Department is staffed with highly trained support service staff responsible for managing the cleaning and disinfecting of medical equipment, patient rooms and other common areas throughout the hospital.  This department is the main defense against serious infections that may linger on surfaces throughout the facility.   Job Summary

The Environmental Services Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and orderly environment throughout Wilson Health. This position performs routine and specialized cleaning of patient rooms, clinical areas, offices, public areas, restrooms, surgical areas, and other assigned locations while following hospital infection prevention and safety standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Cleans and disinfects assigned areas using approved cleaning products, supplies, and equipment.
  • Cleans patient rooms, surgical areas, OB, offices, hallways, restrooms, and public areas according to established procedures.
  • Performs discharge and terminal cleaning as assigned.
  • Performs floor care, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and other floor-care duties.
  • Follows all infection prevention, isolation, aseptic, HIPAA, and safety procedures.
  • Properly uses PPE, chemicals, cleaning equipment, and caution signs.
  • Removes trash and waste and maintains appropriate supply levels.
  • Identifies and addresses areas needing additional cleaning or attention.
  • Reports spills, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or other concerns to the supervisor.
  • Provides courteous and professional service to patients, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Works independently while also contributing as a member of the Environmental Services team.
  • Responds to cleaning requests and other departmental needs during second shift.
  • Completes assigned duties accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Completing scheduled evening cleaning assignments throughout the hospital.
  • Cleaning patient rooms and other areas as patients are discharged or transferred.
  • Completing discharge/terminal cleaning according to established procedures.
  • Cleaning public areas and high-traffic spaces following the primary daytime activity period.
  • Restocking Environmental Services supplies for the following shift.
  • Completing assigned floor-care activities during appropriate evening hours.
  • Responding to spills, accidents, emergency cleaning needs, and other requests.
  • Providing Environmental Services coverage throughout the hospital as assigned.
  • Communicating outstanding concerns or unfinished assignments to the appropriate supervisor or incoming staff.
  • Assisting with maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment throughout the evening and overnight transition
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous housekeeping, Environmental Services, healthcare, or hospital cleaning experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to patient safety.
