Wilson Health is seeking a professional, compassionate, and detail-oriented Financial Advisor to join our Patient Accounts team. This position plays an important role in helping patients understand their financial responsibility, available payment options, and financial assistance programs.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in healthcare billing, patient accounts, collections, registration, or a related medical financial setting and will be comfortable discussing sensitive financial matters with patients in a professional and respectful manner.

Key responsibilities include:

• Contact patients regarding estimated costs for upcoming procedures and discuss pre-payment options.
• Review patient accounts and explain balances remaining after insurance or government payments.
• Counsel patients regarding payment options and available financial assistance programs.
• Establish patient payment plans according to Wilson Health policies.
• Arrange payment of deductibles prior to or on the day of scheduled and unscheduled procedures.
• Meet with patients during registration, admission, or prior to discharge when financial counseling is needed.
• Assist eligible patients with Charity Care and Care Assurance applications and maintain required documentation and records.
• Obtain Presumptive Eligibility through Ohio Medicaid for qualified patients.
• Assist Obstetric patients with payment arrangements through the Cradle Club.
• Answer incoming patient calls regarding account balances, billing concerns, and payment options.
• Process patient payments when applicable.
• Review accounts for appropriate referral to outside collection agencies.
• Process bankruptcies and assist with legal notices received from collection agencies.
• Identify patient overpayments and communicate findings to the Manager of Patient Accounts.
• Work closely with outsourced agencies regarding patient payments and financial assistance programs.
• Provide requested information to third-party insurance companies while ensuring appropriate authorization for release of information.
• Maintain accurate documentation while protecting patient confidentiality.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year of experience or training in a medical, patient accounts, billing, or collections environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with Epic, Meditech, and Ohio Medicaid's Presumptive Eligibility system preferred.
• Previous healthcare financial counseling, patient collections, registration, or revenue cycle experience is strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

• Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
• Ability to analyze patient accounts and accurately document financial arrangements.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with patients, coworkers, departments, insurance companies, and outside agencies.
