Employment Status: Part Time

Hours: 27 hours weekly (54 hours bi-weekly)

Shift: 1st shift (No weekend or call requirement)

Position Reports To: Director of Imaging

Department Description

The Imaging team at Wilson Health provides a wide range of diagnostic services to support patient care across the organization. Sonographers work closely with radiologists, cardiologists, and other clinical staff to perform high-quality imaging procedures. Services include general ultrasound, echocardiography, vascular studies, and support for additional imaging modalities. The patient population may include pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

Job Summary

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and supports imaging services under the direction of the Radiologist and Cardiologist. In this role, you are responsible for producing high-quality images, assisting in accurate diagnosis, and providing a positive patient experience. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with ARDMS, IAC, ICAVL, and ACR standards
  • Assist radiologists and cardiologists with imaging procedures, including echocardiography and vascular studies
  • Obtain and review patient history to determine appropriate imaging procedures
  • Ensure proper image acquisition, documentation, and archiving within PACS
  • Explain procedures to patients and families in a clear and supportive manner
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and provide respectful, compassionate care
  • Support quality and productivity standards within the department
  • Participate in on-call, weekend, and holiday rotations as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the department
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an AMA or CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in echocardiography and vascular ultrasound
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and work independently

Certifications:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • ARDMS (RVT, RDCS) or CCI (RVS, RCS) required
