Working Hours: Mon - Friday - 6:45 AM - 5:00 PM, hours are subject to change, based upon provider/patient need. 40 hours per week/80 per bi-weekly pay period Shift: 1st Shift SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the physician/provider, the Clinical Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse will perform all clinical duties typically required in a medical office, while also assuming Patient Service Representative duties as needed. These responsibilities may include greeting and assisting patients, scheduling appointments, registration, answering telephone calls, verifying demographic and insurance information, collecting payments, and providing general administrative support to ensure efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience.
The Clinical Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse shall report directly to the assigned Office Manager of Wilson Health Medical Group. All Clinical Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurses are required to maintain continuous certification and licensure as applicable to their position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Performs all duties under the supervision of the physician/provider and within established clinical guidelines.
- Anticipates duties that need to be performed and strives to make the physician/provider as efficient and effective as possible.
- Greets patients courteously and escorts them to examination rooms in a helpful and compassionate manner while conducting themselves according to Wilson Health's ASPIRE values.
- Obtains and accurately records vital signs, chief complaint, current medications, and allergies.
- Assists the physician/provider with examinations and procedures, including blood draws, specimen collection, injections, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and minor surgical procedures.
- Provides patient and family education related to medical conditions and care within the guidelines established by the physician/provider.
- Documents patient information in the medical record accurately, appropriately, and thoroughly.
- Assists with ordering diagnostic tests and procedures, making referrals, and completing referral-tracking documentation within the practice management system.
- Communicates with patients and family members in a professional and compassionate manner, including relaying test results under the guidance and direction of the physician/provider.
- Performs quality control measures on medical testing equipment, refrigerators, sterilizers, and other applicable equipment; completes all required compliance and quality-control logs.
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels of medical and laboratory supplies and orders supplies according to established guidelines.
- Follows all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including HIPAA Privacy and Security Practices, as well as all Wilson Health Medical Group and Wilson Health policies and procedures.
- Assists with scheduling patients, faxing and electronic communications, telephone duties, form completion, and other clerical responsibilities necessary to maintain an efficient and effective medical office.
- Assumes Patient Service Representative duties as needed to support the daily operations of the medical office.
- Greets and assists patients with registration, check-in, check-out, scheduling, and other front-office processes.
- Answers incoming telephone calls, directs calls appropriately, takes messages, and provides information to patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Verifies and updates patient demographic, contact, and insurance information as required.
- Assists with insurance verification, referrals, authorizations, and other patient access functions as assigned.
- Collects patient payments and provides receipts in accordance with established Wilson Health policies and procedures.
- Assists patients with questions regarding appointments, office services, forms, and other non-clinical needs, directing clinical questions to the appropriate provider or clinical staff.
- Balances clinical and front-office responsibilities while maintaining patient confidentiality, accuracy, professionalism, and a positive patient experience.
- Provides coverage for PSR staff as needed and assists with maintaining efficient patient flow throughout the office.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the physician/provider or Office Manager.
- Previous medical office experience is required/preferred, depending on the assigned position.
- Previous experience working in a Patient Service Representative, Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, receptionist, scheduling, or other healthcare administrative role is preferred.
- Previous experience using EPIC is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate an electronic medical record and practice management system.
- Experience with patient registration, appointment scheduling, check-in/check-out, insurance verification, referrals, and telephone communication is preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively transition between clinical and administrative responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and Wilson Health policies and procedures.
Medical Assistant Pathway

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program required.

Current certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Clinical Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) required.
LPN Pathway

Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program.

Current Ohio LPN license required.

Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain within the designated timeframe) required.
