This position is with NYK Group America's Inc.

 

The Human Resources Director will play a key role as a strategic business partner and regional leader providing the full spectrum of human resources services to the NYK Group (Americas) organization and the NYK US operating company. The role is responsible for partnering with senior regional leadership in various business functions to ensure consistent practices, procedures, and HR strategies across all operating companies in North and South America.

  • Implements human resources programs in conjunction with senior leaders across a multinational group of companies to ensure consistent implementation of human resources policies/practices as outlined by global and regional human resources goals.
  • Manage all aspects of the US company's healthcare and retirement plans in conjunction with the HR team including vendor management, plan design, compliance requirements etc.
  • Coach, develop and support a group of human resources professionals to optimize their performance and assist them with problem solving.
  • Coach and counsel senior leaders and provide them with direct support on high level human resources matters related to promotion requests, learning and development needs, employee relations matters, compensation consultation, organizational changes etc.
  • Leads the annual performance management process for the US operating companies including goal setting and performance appraisals while also aligning with global HR performance management initiatives.
  • Oversee various compensations processes including bonus, merit and market competitiveness reviews as requested by senior management and business leaders.
  • Supports national recruitment efforts including interviewing jobseekers, managing the recruitment process through the team and negotiating job offers with prospective candidates.
  • Acts as the primary regional point of contact to drive the company's Corporate Transformation (CX) initiative in conjunction with country management and global headquarters staff.
  • Drives regional and local D&I initiatives through the team including designing local D&I programs and supporting global D&I initiatives in support of the companys global strategy.
  • Enhances employee engagement through learning and development as well as various programs or events to position NYK as an employer of choice.
  • Ensures organizational compliance with federal, state, and local legislation through consulting and reviewing on-going human resources practices while making recommendations to management on how to mitigate risk and increase compliance.
  • Works closely with payroll team on various matters such as benefits deductions, audit support and employee on-boarding while providing oversight to ensure compliance with company requirements.
  • Coordinate with global headquarters and country management to facilitate the international transfer process of staff as part of rotational programs and overseas job transfers.
  • Bachelor's degree required preferably in human resources, industrial relations or business required or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of experience managing a human resources team or working in an exempt level human resource's role required.
  • Ten plus years of experience in human resources preferred.
  • PHR/SHRM – CP or similar HR certification preferred.
  • General knowledge of all human resources disciplines including talent acquisition, employee benefits, HR systems, learning & development, total rewards etc.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal including strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deal with uncertainty while maintaining composure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with senior managers and direct reports to come up with acceptable resolutions on complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines, per to be determined schedule.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%.
