Job Description:

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or relevant field of study preferred
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification preferred

Work Experiences:

  • 5+ years of event planning/management experience required
  • In-depth expertise in event management and team member engagement preferred
  • Experience working in a retail environment preferred
  • Experience leading people preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision and strategic direction for direct report team and cross-functional teams that align with company priorities and deliver department goals.
  • Lead team and executed events including experience design, budget development and management, location sourcing, and contract negotiations, logistics and travel management, internal communications, vendor relationships management, and event registration management.
  • Lead and own execution of company-wide level team member engagement activities and events.
  • Manage a team to build and maintain team member recognition programs and events that drive engagement.
  • Manage company-wide anniversary recognition programs.
  • Identify tools, processes, and resources needed to consistently plan to execute varying event types.
  • Effectively select, develop, and retain top talent.
  • Manage teams' execution of high-quality deliverables while adhering to all internal and external deadlines.
  • Create and maintain a work environment that promotes teamwork performance, feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and team member engagement.
  • Continually manage performance by providing timely coaching for success and improvement to achieve results.
  • Negotiate and contract with vendors to deliver maximum cost efficiencies and quality deliverables.
  • Develop long-term strategies and lead key initiatives to promote employee engagement, successfully execute events, and travel experience.
  • Works with direct reports to review initiatives, and adapt strategy and processes based on current or anticipated conditions to ensure successful outcomes and/or avoid challenges/conflicts.
  • Solves unique and moderately complex problems related to logistics, attendee management, and general planning; requires conceptual thinking to develop solutions.
  • Responsible for timely, detailed, and accurate budgeting and forecasting of a multi-million dollar budget, inclusive of annual budgeting.
  • Lead team to plan 2-3 years in advance and craft a tailored experience for each event.
  • Manage team to provide full logistical planning and support for events including but not limited to attendee management, food, and beverage, rooming lists, travel, destination management company (DMC), online registration, event websites, space needs / usage, room turnaround, event production, audio-visual needs, signage, collateral, invitations etc.
  • Communicates complex ideas; persuades and negotiates with others to adopt forward-thinking and industry standards.
  • Partner and negotiate with support departments, key stakeholders, and vendors
  • Lead the strategy of recognition and engagement to support the successful adoption of a highly engaged company culture.
  • Remain current with relevant industry changes and trends for events, engagement, recognition, and travel.
  • Manage policies and negotiate agreements and contracts for travel-related services.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of, follow, and enforce the Academy's policies, procedures, and safety rules.
  • Duties may change; team members may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements & Attendance:

  • Up to 30% travel, as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties.
  • Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures, and rules governing professional staff behavior.
