Academy Sports + Outdoors' Marketing Team is looking for a senior manager to increase our Email, SMS, push notification and direct mail programs (owned channels). This role will be in the Marketing department but will have a broad cross-functional range. A successful candidate will plan and execute the comprehensive go to market (GTM) Email/SMS/push notification/direct mail strategy. In partnership with Customer Relationship Management (CMR), and Loyalty, the Sr. Manager, Owned Channels will execute Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Loyalty campaigns. Create and manage reporting and analytics to track channel performance, share key insights, and strategic learnings; drive continuous improvement across channel KPIs. Job Description:

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant field with demonstrated high academic achievement 
  • Master's degree a plus 

Work Experiences:  

  • Min 8 years' experience in owned channels or CRM campaign planning and execution for owned channels 
  • Prior experience working with providers Email Service Provider (ESP), SMS provider, App provider and direct mail production facilities) for owned channels. 
  • Retail experience a plus  

Skills:  

  • Strategic thinker, leader, and problem solver with a demonstrated ability to design, plan, execute, and deliver results for complex, cross-functional projects 
  • Experience collaborating and communicating with senior leadership; executive presentation skills a must 
  • Strong background in managing a high-volume and multifaceted owned channels program, including creating and managing campaigns, performance KPIs and reporting on results, and effectively communicating performance to leadership 
  • Expertise in email, SMS, push-notification and direct mail best practices, deliverability and privacy regulations 
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze reporting using tools like Google Analytics, Adobe, and Excel 
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadline constraints 
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of autonomy 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to simplify complex topics for broad business and technical audiences; comfort presenting and communicating to a wide range of audiences in both formal and informal settings 
  • Must be interested in working in a high-energy and collaborative environment 

Responsibilities:  

  • Operational execution of simple and complex and personalized customer journeys, triggers and batch notifications for email, SMS, push and direct mail campaigns and automations. 
  • Lead/manage the current and future portfolio of owned channel related initiatives in support of our customer roadmap 
  • Implement list growth strategies for email, SMS, and App download, including sign-up and customer referral programs 
  • Design, build, and execute A/B testing within owned channels to optimize performance.  
  • Work closely with Creative, Brand Management, Category Management, and eCom to develop compelling and on-brand owned channel mail content. 
  • Be the subject matter expert for all things associated with owned channel marketing communication, reporting and analysis.  
  • Partner with Customer Insights & Data Teams and CRM to refine targeting and content strategies and customer segmentation. 
  • Responsible for GTM campaign strategy, planning, and building 
  • Recommend and implement owned channel best practices across the organization 
  • Measure campaign performance, market trends, and competitive actions to optimize marketing messages and tactics based on campaign objectives  
  • Develop, train, and implement processes and procedures for the owned channels team to align with the needs of the business.  
  • Manage and lead the day-to-day owned channels marketing team, overseeing 3-5 people.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of Academy Sports + Outdoors GTM strategy, including the planning, execution, and measurement of promotional and triggered owned channel campaigns 
  • Create and manage reporting and analytics to track channel performance, share key insights and strategic learnings; drive continuous improvement across channel KPIs 
  • Manage the relationship with our Email Service Provider /SMS, App and direct mail partners and foster a collaborative relationship with key stakeholders 
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures, and safety rules 
  • Duties may change; Team Members may be required to perform other duties as assigned
